lab's second day out but first real retrieve

just thought id share a couple of photos with ya's a pround
owner of a wee lab bitch with good protentual first duck this
morning a red head fell bot 80yrds out so I grabed a handful of
stones and headed oyt of the hide with her. (should prob mention
the guy had her b4 me has the dog that confused when you tell
her to go back r to the side she just freezes and dosnt no what
you want from her,and she thinks it safer to stay rather than
anything else, so have been working on this tha last couple of
weeks). anyway told her to go back and she did btu wrong
direction so throw a stone general direction and then bot 20yrds
away from it she ether smelt it r seen

then I shot a teal which was only bot 20yrds out which she
retrieved no bother, then a pair of mallard came in and my mate
shot 1 which dropped at least 100yrds out so walked out a bit
and sent her out but she got caught up in 2 decoys and brought
them with her I had to through a stone but again bot 20yrds
away, straight to it but it got up and flew another 20 yrds but
the decoys were wraped around so had to call her back in and
just went out in the boat for it,
next was another mallard which again was out 80+ yrds walked her
out abit and sent her out no stones no nothing away she went
called her once and sent her right then she got the scent of it.
game over ;D ;D

That's great brendy, I didn't bother with the ducks took the wee
dog and got her a few pigeons. Just trying to get her used to
sitting in a hide more

yeah hawkeye a good bit of movement tis morning but the wind was
blowing into our faces instead of away from us with a bit of
roughness on the water at day break, I would be inclined to say
there has been a fall of divers come in, but not in any great
numbers, I have only a couple of birds decoy to me the day the
rest was all rangey birds with gb 4s 36g and and doing no good
at all. had 2 tuftys come to the outside of the pattern which I
didn't see ::)less than 40yrds put them up fired 3 shots birds
in the middle of the pattern and never even put a feather out
ffs.
DC you've been warned any more that fighting carry on and 1 2 3
he's out, its even turned my dog in to a bit of a c### with
other dogs now
SEMI well go to lurgan park this week if ya want ;)
DAN the only way to get her used to it is get her into it, and I
don't no how much duck shooting uv done but for me a dog doesn't
need to be shot steady for the lough it only wastes valuable
time especialy for woundies. the quicker you get the dog after
it the better in my book. ;)

Good report and plenty of info, and although I know that
slagging semi is a wee sport of your,s, it was actually me that
said Lurgan Park! ;D

100 yard & 80+ yrds ducks brendy you forget I've seen your
shootin ffs george digweed would struggle to bring ducks down at
those distances - wise up man you're not supposed to be drinkin
when your out shootin lol
