       swimmin rabit

       ---------------------------------------------------------
I was out with the dog today given him a run and throwin a line
at the same time but after an hour the fishin was rubbish with
the East wind I packed up and headed back to the car, on the way
back another guy joined me for the walk back, we crossed a field
then came into some heavy cover at the side of the lake where I
put the dog in for a hunt and to get him dried off a bit before
puttin him back in the boot, I told the dog to 'get in' and away
he went but he was only in the heavy cover about twenty feet
when he came tearin out hot on the heels of a rabbit, I've
always kept him away from rabbits when I train or hunt him but
he was so close this one there was nothin I could do to stop
him, he cased the rabbit 6/7 yards and it turned and came runnin
staight us on the stony path then with the dog on it's heels it
turned into a bit of heavy grass beside the lake and with
nowhere else to go the rabbit jumped into the water, we couldn't
believe what we'd seen the other man was in his 60's and said in
all his years huntin and fishin he'd never saw a rabbit swim
before (not that it really had a choice) for some reason Bud
missed the rabbit jumpin into the water so me and the other guy
were lookin through the long grass watchin the rabbit swim about
in the water But launched himself out into the lake then he
spotted the rabbit swimmin off for the side of the next wee bay
but Bud was faster in the water and went and picked the rabbit
up and brought him out to me, I took the rabbit by the ears and
as it was strugglin to get away I through it into the long grass
where it first came from but Bud when and brought it back again
ffs so when I got him to look away i chucked it deep into the
long grass so it should have been ok all be it in shock, We
talked about it all the way back to the cars and kept sayin if
we hadn't have seen it ourselves we wouldn't have believed it.
so that's two great experiences with my dogs in the last two
days -- anyone else ever see a rabbit swim before ?

I'm still not convinced your telling the truth but the more I
think about it, why would you make a story like that up?
You missed £250 from you've been framed, that's for sure!
Actually now I believe you semi. But was it doing the doggy
       paddle? ;D
By the way is the lake fishing again?
       Monty

i'd never had enough time to video it even if id had my phone in
my hand it happened so fast monty, the rabbit was so funny in
the water the way it's fur was movin about just like a real life
       minky lol
no the lake was fish bad again from the side, the boys in the
boats were gettin fish but no one from the banks were catchin,
I'll have to get the boat out once more before the season ends.

hahaha id like to see you stop your dog when it's a foot from a
       rabbit's arse - i think you'd need a rope  ::)
