Some pics from Lough Neagh

Went up to the Lough today to make the most of the windy
weather. Rather productive compared to most days finishing with
2 mallard, 1 gadwall and a pochard. Had a shot at a teal which
made it out over the water before falling but apart from that
every bird that I shot at was down. Max my lab is doing well
too, 100% retrieval rate in the water in the last 2 years he's
been up so I cant fault him despite being quite a character.

when everyone seemed to be shooting but myself.

Super pics AM,
how do you find the big lab handles sitting in the hide after a
retrieve? Always wondered what,s best to keep them from getting
foundered. But then just realised, your hides on the shore so a
wee dander when it,s quiet, would work. It,s different when the
hides out on the water. Doh!
Speaking of kingfishers, when I was after the mackerel at
Newcastle this year, I saw one fly past and land on a rock used
a lot by cormorants and seagulls. Never seen them except in
fresh water!

Cheers Monty. I sat and watched this one fish for 30 mins he
caught a few small fry whilst I watched. With Max here he never
really has a problem with the cold weather or retrieves he will
hapilly sit in the hide straight after a swim. He'll even
happily sit with water up to his chest! I can see it being a
problem with a lot of dogs, but as you said we are on the shore
so I let him out every now and then for a quick run and a pee.

Yeh, that's one of the disadvantages with a hide in the water,
getting him and me for a slash!
