Cops not granting rimfire for fox anymore?

Had a discussion with a well known rfd yesterday (not mentioning
names) who told me that the cops won't accept fox shooting as a
reason for granting rimfires (17hmr, 22lr, etc) anymore. Anyone
else heard this? Also he recently got a letter saying that rifle
transfers must be like for like, ie not just 22lr to 22lr but
bolt action to bolt action, and spring air rifle to spring air
rifle, etc, tho shotguns don't matter.
Sounds like some of the powers that be have a bee in their
bonnet over something ???

I got a 17 hmr put about 2 weeks ago for foxes, no probs at all.
had my FAC back 2 weeks from the day i sent it,

Applying for a .17hmr tomorrow. Do I still put down for reason
foxing as well as long range rabbit and corvids?

my mate tried doing a change over from a semi auto .22 to a bolt
action .22 and was told he had to send it in as a varaition if
it had of been a semi for a semi then it would of been fine, now
i cant mind if it was the psni/ FEO or the RFD who told him it

I know a few shooters in England and they told me quite a while
ago that they weren't alowed a rimfire for fox! Also had an rfd
tell me a few years ago if I put a .22lr down for fox would get
it turned down!!

If they don't allow rimfires the number applying for centrefires
can only increase - can't see the police wanting this.

They are possibly hoping the price of centre fires will put
people off! Salar don't know what your best move is-you could
try it as if you are caught by the wrong cop shooting fox when
it's not on your fac it could be passed in as a breach of your
conditions!

Thing is the fac doesn't state what guns can be used on what
quarry so shouldn't be an issue, but as I said he told me they
won't accept it as a reason anymore for granting them ???

Could always be due to pressure from animal rights groups as
there is more chances of wounding a fox with rimfire-especially
.22lr

Do you not put down against each gun what its being used for?
