Payment of Shotgun ????

I am waiting on approval for my first shotgun licience, having
chosen a gun with a dealer and left a 30% deposit.
My application was posted to the authorities six weeks ago. I
have been contacted by the firearms dealer who now requires
payment in full.
I have no issue with this other than at the time of purchase I
agreed with the dealer that payment of my balance would be on
approval of licience.
Is this normal? How long to dealers generally wait on
applications by customers before they require payment in full.

an agreement with your dealer he should stick to that -- who is
the dealer ?

Hi mate, not its not normal, some of them try this as they think
after you leave a deposit you piss about and take your time with
sending ur application in, they don't like holding the gun for
long. Now most don't care as they no the waiting time can take
up to six months, but the odd ones are knobs ... I was asked at
tannyoke guns to pay in full up front £850 for a gun a liked,
and I said I didn't have it I only brought £50 for a deposit ,
so they said just forget it lol complete tossers... Went to
Maryland he asked for £20 no problems at all!!! I'd tell ur gun
deals to relax him self he has more than enough deposit of you.

To avoid any probs I'll not name them. Sufice to say they would
be considered a 'major' Company.

I know of one RFD who asked for the shotgun to be paid
in full before any paperwork was done. £800 quid had to
be handed over before they done anything. >:(

It's all down to what is agreed at the time. I recently bought
a new rifle and the dealer offered a bit of extra discount if I
wished to pay the full amount up front, which I duly did. If a
dealer insists upon the full amount being paid up front and you
are not happy with this arrangement, simply walk away - there
will be other dealers happy to take a deposit. I understand
dealers don't want money 'lying out' for considerable periods of
time, however the vast majority of delays are beyond the control
of both buyer and seller, so why should the buyer have to bear
the brunt?

I was asked to pay up front for my latest purchase not just a
deposit but they said it was normal to pay up front with them.
Had to sell my other gun first to get full price.
Told them to stick it back into their cabinets. He said it might
be sold by the time i came back, trying to push the sale, left
that day shopped around and sold my own gun.
Theirs was the best deal I could get so went back and surprise
surprise it was still there, and got a few more pound off the
price.

Although it does depend on what you agreed on. But anytime I
have bought a new gun as long as you are throwing £50 or £60 off
it every few weeks then there happy enough. It's different if
your taking the piss completely by not paying for months on end.

lads these RFD work every day with police firearms they know the
score also can help to push it a wee bit quicker ,unless they
havent been doing well cash wise that week that could be all the
problem is or order a new gun for england

Sharpshooter ur bang on mate they only tryed it with me as it
was my first gun!! Also tryed to sell me a cabinet (3 gun) for
£180 said that's the best priced I'd get lol £90 brand new thing
is iv ask a few boys and tannyoke have never done this to them!!
