We had real problems with raptors this year, they pounded us
especially Buzzards, any one got any tips on how to keep these
pests off our birds, legally of course ::)

Well Buzzards generally do not take birds, more small mammals
and they are more of a scavenger.Birds are a very tiny part ot
their diet So for them to be taking birds is quite unusual . If
you leave vermin that you have shot out they will take it before
trying to take anything thats livng . They will go for the easy
option unlike other birds of prey ......
Personaly i think they are good to have around to keep rats and
       real vermin under control !!!!!!!!!!!

"Buzzards do not genarally take birds" your welcome to come up
and view the slaughter as we did, believe me once they attack
       there is no stopping them!

       I agree totally with Springerman -- I've stood a quarter of a
mile away and watched Buzzards flyin in one after another tryin
to pick our young pheasants poults and when they don't get them
they just keep comin back, I've seen them work in 3's doin this
and there's nothin we could do to stop them, they are bad for
young birds too, there's never been less small hedge row birds
since buzzards came about and just wait until the red kite's get
their numbers up, I can only hope they dislike each other which
might keep their numbers at bay !

couldn't agree more semi, at lest in Scotland they are agitating
for a licence to shoot them, the numbers around our area are
phenomenal, and like you say they are detrimental to the song
bird and ground mammal population, a cull is needed!
