How many lads shoot without a dog? I have shot for years without
a dog and walked passed more game and lost more due to no dog, 3
years ago I bought a springer and now I will never be with out a
       dog.

I have always shot with a dog and would never go with out one.
It's not a great feeling clipping a bird and it dropping and
running on. I know its not viable for everyone to have a dog
with work and family etc but i would advise everyone to at least
go shooting with someone who has a dog. Plus the amount of game
you walk past is unreal without a dog and its more enjoyable
       working your own dog.

always have shot with a dog how anyone can shoot without 1 is
beyond me unless all the game they shoot falls on golf course
type land ;D cos the moss/scrub/whins i shoot you would never
find woodcock etc that has been shot unless you have a good dog
, i know men who shoot without dogs and any woodcock etc they
shoot most go unclaimed which is madness >:( they even shoot
ducks at a flightpond without a dog :o

had to put my dogs down last year so dont have one at mo and
wont for the forseeable future. having said that depends what
type of shooting youre talking about and the land youre on, most
of my shootings pest control done on farmland, so theyre easy
enough picked up, only really used the dog for retrieving from
       water, etc
