laws on a friend shooting your gun

I know if I searched it or rang the fao id find out but thought
id ask here first. Say I own two shotguns. Is it legal for me to
take them both out to a hide and shoot one while I let a froend
stand in the hide with me to shoot the other? Or would it have
to be one shotgun shared?

as far as i know and i could be wrong. but a friend is allowed
to shoot your gun as long as you are with him at all times and
you accept responsabilty for his actions. i take a mate of mine
clay shooting he has no FAC and he shoots with me all the time
as long as i am with him, but i could be wrong,

If I remember right the rule is that if you are the occupier of
the land you can lend a gun to someone while under your
supervision, but there's been no legal definition of what
occupier covers; technically if you hold shooting rights you are
an occupier, but don't ask how well that would hold up in court
:-\

You can let him use your second shotgun as long as he isn't a
prohibited person, and he stays within your view. If he walks
behind a hedge and you can't see him, both of you are
technically breaking the law. If he's sitting beside you in the
hide then no problem. As mentioned above, you are responsible
for his actions, so make sure whoever it is is sensible.

I'm not 100% sure if you can lend him a second gun that is one
for him and one for you - I always thought that you could lend a
gun to another person as long as he's not a prohibited person
and that he has permission to shoot on that land you'd be on and
that you were 100% responsible for his actions and he must be
with you at all times in full view ( not like 250 yards across a
field in another hide of walkin the other side of a line-ride in
a forest ) you must ensure he acts safely and within the law at
all times -- Dancake could be right about the 2 guns but I'd
check it out properly before try it out as you'd have too much
to loose if it went wrong .

what's their definition of 'private' premises ? -- how does
that stand at a club or a game fair which is a public event ?
just askin as I don't know for sure .

Rifles
10.—(1) A person may, without holding a firearm certificate,
borrow a rifle from the occupier of private premises and use it
on those premises in the presence of the occupier or an employee
of the occupier if—
(a)the occupier or employee in whose presence the rifle is used
holds a firearm certificate for it; and
(b)the borrower’s possession and use of it complies with any
conditions as to those matters in the certificate.
(2) A person who by virtue of sub-paragraph (1) is entitled
without holding a firearm certificate to borrow and use a rifle
in another person’s presence may also, without holding a firearm
certificate, purchase or acquire ammunition for use in the rifle
and have it in his possession during the period for which the
rifle is borrowed if—
(a)the firearm certificate held by that other person authorises
the holder to have in his possession at that time ammunition for
the rifle of a quantity not less than that purchased or acquired
by, and in the possession of, the borrower; and
(b)the borrower’s possession and use of the ammunition complies
with any conditions as to those matters in the certificate.
(3) Sub-paragraphs (1) and (2) do not apply in relation to a
person who is under the age of 18.
Shotguns
11.—(1) A person may, without holding a firearm certificate,
borrow a shotgun from the occupier of private premises and use
it on those premises in the occupier’s presence.
(2) A person may, without holding a firearm certificate, use a
shotgun at a time and place approved by the Chief Constable for
shooting at artificial targets.
(3) Sub-paragraphs (1) and (2) do not apply in relation to a
person who is under the age of 18.
i reckon game fairs and clubs etc would come under the bold
highlighted bit (number 11, 2)
