lamp Verus night vision!
By: springerman Date: November 20, 2012, 1:35 pm

I have aways wondered if it was worth the effort and cost to get
a good night vision scope! i do a lot of lamping and enjoy
scanning the countryside with the lamp, also this gives my mates
the benefit of seeing what is going on as well, however is the
Night vision more successful in terms on numbers shot, we also
have the ubiquitous lamp shy foxes around or area now which can
be dispatched with NV!?

I found this from another forum which caught my eye. (Mods if
this is against the rules pls feel free to remove) :-[
It would be a lot closer to my price range ;D
here is the best bit of kit you can use for foxing and a tip for
all you guys out there who want a night vision kit but cannot
afford a €4000 gen 3 kit for there 223 rem.
And may I state that I used this in the UK a few weeks ago so if
nurse ratchet is looking in on this there is no need to contact
my super to complain.
Get yourself the following.
ATN paladin or similar cheap night vision scope, the usually
retail in the north or UK for about £350 ish.
Now they are pure ****e and will not give you 30 to 40 yards on
a good day.
"BUT" go get a ND3 laser and mount it on top of the scope and
"voila" you now have a 200 to 250 yard nightvision kit for about
€550 ish.
I have only looked through the scope out the back of Steve
Bowers workshop and did not go hunting with it, but I could see
two roe deer about 300yds away at the edge of a copse of small
larch and could easily have taken a shot with the right rifle as
it was fitted on a .22lr.
You will see a lot further than 2 to 300yds but to be honest
this is the safest distance I would use one.

I have read serious bad reveiws and the ND3 especially in cold
weather, that said i wouldnt mind having a go with one to see
for myself wihout having to commit to buy!

Not so sure about that one, is it the one with the camera lens
on it and you dont actually mount it to ur eye? I would prefer
a good NV scope 2 gen, i think there is one that is dual
purpose..ie usabl day and night, i cant remember the name
though?

Good enough idea but:-
1. The glare of the screen at night cant be good.
2. Without having my cheek on the stock, i think it wouldn't
"feel" like i'm shooting
My tuppence worth.

I have ordered a Pulsar Challenger GS with a day scope adapter .
After reading up on them and the Ns 200 I thought this one would
be better suited for me ! I'm planning on using it for some
ratting .
I'll let you all know what I think of it when it arrives , and
then after my first outing with it .
It's very hard to know which type of night vision is the best
without just trying them out .... Lets hope I made the right
choice for me !!!
Regards John
