Don't think it's gone away for good. Like everything it's only a
matter of time. I subspect that it will come into force when the
new banded system come into play (18 months). Might come in
sooner if firearms get their finger out.
Mark my words it will come in and it will sting like mad. Prob
£100 or so for 5 years.
Keep am eye on basc for vote against the increase. If I see one
I will post a link.

I wouldn't be as worried about the licence fee as £100 for 5
years isn't all that bad £20/year is still a cheap sport. As
long as they keep the variation fee low as that's where bills
will build up!!

The fees? Well this is how I see it and I have a few friends who
are working on this. We want the law to change to allow young
shooters start younger and have a banded system for one in one
off. They are asking for us to allow the fees to go up first and
we said no. Now we are at a stale mate. My view still stands. It
will be push and shove and then we compromise. Fees go up maybe
not as much. Others fees get added maybe not as much. We get the
banded system and young shooters law changed maybe not as we
want it. It's all maybe's but current system will def not
continue for long.
If things don't change and grow they die and we don't want
firearms to die out.

why is no one pushing for a slot system like in england,, where
you can have an opening for a callibre but you dont have to buy
it, 1on 1 off doesent interest me unless you want to change the
make of gun you have ur still stuck with same callibre much
better to apply at renewal time for say a .17,.22,.223,.222and
then be able to purchase what you want and when and equally sell
it if not needed but retain opening for the future,,,,,,,

I heard they were going to push for round £100.00 per year, and
the same for a variation, as a means to cut the number of FAC's
around
They were also considering a charge per gun on the licence for
every year, to cut down on the amount of weapons people have
Much the same system is used in some foreign countries I have
been in, and gets very expensive when pu have a lot of guns
