Gats in Garage

Im possibly moving house. Just wondering if you can put rifle
cabinets in a garage.The garage is not attached to the house but
only a few feet away. Cheers

Yes you can put gun cabinets in garages, but not with guns in
them. Garages aren't generally considered secure enough, and it
is a definate no no when the garage isn't even attached to the
house.

sorry to disagree Dancake but I know someone who has his guns in
his garage and it's PSNI approved even after a house break in,
it's got a normal electric garage door and a combination lock
side door, the cabinet is bolted to the block walls as it would
be inside the house.

know a man was refused point blank,might depend on where you
live.would not be happy with them in the garage myself,would
feel lonely.

yup, i prefer having them within reaching distance lol
i heard about a guy having them in a garage (wasnt a pub story,
was trying to sort out his house insurance). anyway thought it
was a bit dodgy myself but they were ok'd by psni, funny if i
remember right it was a £30,000+ gun he'd interited :o

I have mine in the garage but garage is attached to the house! I
know a fella has his in a detached garage but had to put cameras
up and extra strength doors and windows. Mind you it's more of a
gun room than a cabinet!!

Interesting that. Seems strange how allowances can be made for
some but not others ??? Stranger things have happened though.
Now that I think of it, Jim Higgens runs a dealership out of a
garage not attached to his house lol. There is also a dealer in
Bangor who deals from his garage, albeit an attached one. I had
however heard contrary to this, hence the initial reply.

It's in the NI firearms and explosives guidance that powder
should be kept in a wooden box which in turn should be kept
inside a metal box. This is to prevent accidental ignition. It
applies to black powder or pyrodex more so than modern powders.

Hi lads, would a cabinet in the garage present condensation
issues within the cabinet itself?
Also, sounds like the fellow with the cameras and extra security
has level 3 security. If your not familiar with it, look up the
home office guidelines on cabinet/gun room/house security.
Why not throw the issue back to lisnasharragh and ask them a FOI
request about the acceptability of storing weapons in a garage?
