Went out for a quick half hour drive after tea tonight...
Turned into a 1.5hr adventure after I found a soft bit in the
field, managed to extract myself tho'
Anyways, 3 in the fridge, ready to teach the Scouts something
       new tomorrow evening....

       Good night had by all...
We practiced axe safety, built a wash stand and a fire, skinned
the rabbits (some of the kids even got their hands bloody) and
then roasted them over the fire...

My first night with the scouts went like this-
Whats in the bin bag mister?
       Your tea!
       Whats that?
       6 rabbits removed from bag.
       Yeuch.
Later - any more rabbit mister?
They have had mallard, teal, wood pigeon, woodcock venison more
rabbit - gammon and turkey cooked in a pit. Once they taste
it they are hooked. They have been eyeing up a herd of deer at a
campsite of ours with Lord of the Flies lusting(can't blame em I
am too) Went for a walk round the local lake in search of an
abandoned terrapin. Discussion while walking what other wild
stuff can we eat? Can we make elderflower drink?. Yes as long as
there is no alcohol in it. ( I have 4 gallon of elderflower
       champagne in shed Te He)
Scouting is great for them and me. Someone can always teach you
       a new trick.

Well done... have to honest, whether its gutting fish or
skinning rabbits for the pot, my 7 year old girl and 4 year old
lad are always at my side. Never forced the issue on them, but
they just always seemed to have the interest and got stuck in. I
think its good that kids are still getting to see how we live
off the hand.! Well done again!
