       Re-loading

Have we any re-loaders on shoot NI?. Thinking about getting into
it myself & was wondering what sort of set up costs I could
expect. All 2nd hand gear if possible.

There's lot more at it that you'd think.
You would need to be loading a lot of ammo before there would be
any cost saving. But it's a worthwhile hobby.

Naw, never heard about that. Just checked their website for NI.
Only mentions a deer rifle course coming up in the new year, no
       chat about a re-loading course.
I know a lad might be able to get me a reloading kit at the
       right money.
More money in the mouth of christmas. That will be me in the dog
       house again :D

I reload with a Dillon 550b I only reload pistol ammo
.40 cal and 9mm it halves the price of my .40cal
From £14 per box of 50 to just under £8
Great pastime but you have to know what
Your at. I once missed a round and failed to powder it
And whilst on the range I chambered the round and pulled the
       trigger
The bang went off and nothing happend I racked
The glock again ejecting the spent case and chambered
The next round but noticed it had not chambered
Correctly by about 1/2 a mm tried forcing it
But it wouldn't take it on inspection of the barrel
The head of the powderless round had stuck
In the barrel had it gone another 1/2 mm and my
Next round had chambered I would be without a hand
Or two a great lesson learned though I check
       Every round now
       [/quote]
That can be damn scary. Exact same thing happened to me with
dodgy remmington hmr ammo. You can never be too careful around
       firearms.

I reload all my own for the the tikka t3, not that difficult if
you were thinking off getting started, a bit scary first firing
your first round, lol, but after that like riding a bike. But be
consistent with your routine, dont take shortcuts.

       I used to reload all my ammo (9x19, 45acp, 38spec, .357 mag, 44
mag, 223, 308, 300 wsm, and 460 weatherby. But sold all my guns
and ammo plus reloading kit before moving back to the UK two
       years ago
I even swaged a lot of my own bullets, and cast some too. The
swaged bullets were always JSP or JHP or sometime JSWC
I used a Dillon RL550 and a very large Redding, plus a Lee
Turret press, and an RCBS Rock Chucker.
Now just been back into shooting about 6 months after returning
to the UK, and slowly buying weapons and stuff again.
At the moment just going to start loading some shotgun shells,
so have a MEC Junior 400, and a Lee Loader II.
Soon I will start loading my rifle cases too, so will need to
get some kit for that as well

Well i bit the bullet - so to speak & have made a start on
       re-loading.
My 223 is a 1 in 9 twist so should be able to shoot bullets in
the 65 to 70 gr bracket.
I have the Hornady 8th edition book & it only goes up to 60gr as
the test rifle was 1 in 12.
Has anyone load data for 70 gr Amax or Vmax or something
       similar?
       Thanks in advance

       Cheers lads.
       I had tried Reloder 10X with 40 & 60gr bullets. Out of 10 groups
       - only one was sub 1". As its a 1 in 9 barrel I reckon she
should shoot the heavier ones ok.
Was looking last nite & Varget, VIHT 140 & RL 15 seem to be
       recommended for 75gr Amax.
There is some info in the Hornady book for these bullets but its
under the service rifle - 5.56mm section. I was concerned that
the pressures would be too high. I assume if I start low enough
& keep an eye out for pressure signs all will be ok.
       What ya think??
