Finally got my scope set to a fairly decent zero but only at
fifty yards and as it was to windy tonight to zero further
headed out to find a few short range bunnies!!
Headed out to a few fields beside the yard and two shots and two
in the bag!!

Well chuffed I decided to head to next ground-didn't go as well!
25 rounds later and still nothing more! Finically decided to
head home and spotted a bunnie on way to the car!! Took a shot
and heard the thud, seen the leap and followed by a squeal!! Got
over to find had been shot thru the chest!!
All in all not a powerful night but still got 3!!

Generally that is the case however rabbits vary a bit! As they
live under ground they spend a big part of the winter cuddled up
safley in their burrows. Also a rabbit will breed from early
march to late October-a female rabbit will start to breed at 4
months old and carries a litter for 4 weeks (normally 10 - 13
kits). The litter then sucks for 4 weeks however the doe will
get pregnant again during this period!
Between children, grand children and great grand children 1 doe
can be responsible for 800 of spring in a season so therefore
rabbits need to be controlled during their breeding season
unlike most other species.
Also it's worth remembering 8 rabbits can eat as much a 1 adult
sheep so they do cost farmers significantly in lost feed!!

i do agree stew. but at this time of year i think shooting
should calm down a we bit.time for clays and wetting a ;ine
training a dog ect.maybe getting the odd bit of ferret
food.rabbits have gone to pot this last ten years.although i
think 17hmrs. have give them a big lot of hurt.where i shoot
anyway.what do you think.

Haven't been rabbit shooting since last year lol, when I took
800 in under 4 weeks off one field.
Now I have to start on crows as they are this week starting to
hit fields, still not masses, but enough that the farmers have
been ringing me to come and move them :o

You should see some of the ground I shoot it's over run with
rabbits-I do agree with you tho that a species should be allowed
to re-populate but the main reason I shoot is pest control
rather than for sport.

Would agree with Stewartyg, around these parts some fields are
crawling with rabbits. If you just left them this time of year
the farmers would not be too happy come the middle of summer.
Need to be thinned out but not got rid of totally.
