New Mod

yo celestial_one = new mod.
I've also put him/mappy in charge of stickies since everyone was
making such a fuss about them.
Ask them if you want shit stickied.
Also if you have any complaints just contact me.
I put him as mod because he's stable, quite active on the
forums, and doesn't get manipulated too much. I know there are
people that could have done it.

one could argue for more mods before when you had to "move" all
deleted posts to the trashcan manually, but now that this is
automatic = why exactly do we need cele as mod? much less with a
"minimal moderation" policy lol.
the motive behind promoting people is obvious, but i dont think
putting cele as mod is going to make any difference.
real theory = fix council (perhaps add a crackhead from csb so
they feel represented), add chakra as admin to brush up around
the forum(no moderating), and remove quoteparty. All DeSciSon IS
MadE bY Kaunsill!! this will work wonders for the forum.
no hate on cele tho, if we needed more mods -> i'd recommend
cele. not arguing that we should replace him, just that we don't
need him/others as additional moderators.

I think cele is a good choice for mod, but I agree with amir's
sentiment that mods in general are overrated. Usually mods are
a source of contention and abuse. I've never seen a forum die
because a post was in the wrong section or it took an extra few
hours to send a dumb post to the trashcan.

The reason there should be two mods at a minimum is so that if
one mod participates in a thread, then the other mod should
moderate it and not participate.
It is clear that mods are strongly bias in their own threads,
weeding out posts more aggressively against them for them.

Before I was too scared to elect mods/allow mods to moderate
because I didn't trust anyone to delete posts per the policies
of the forum.
Now that all deleted posts are sent (recycled) to the trashcan
I'm not worried any more because there is accountability and we
can recover any good posts that are deleted.
This should allow me to focus on some other bits.
@Chakra - if you review the posts in the trashcan are there any
that shouldn't have been deleted? I don't think that is a
problem. Some threads are more 'serious' (e.g., long/serious
tone opening post) -> they will be moderated more of course.
Those threads also tend to generate more attention -> more
moderation. I'm obviously not going to moderate the threads CsB
Chronicles and New Mod with the same rigor based on the starting
post.
Forum council = I'm for. But I need a blueprint for who and how
to execute the idea.

kinda silly to exclude a mod (usually a valuable poster) from
popular threads so that we can ensure "unbiased moderation",
when the problem of biased moderation doesn't exist in the first
place. if you know of any example with biased moderation chakra,
show me.
adding extra mods (and on top of that -> adding people in charge
of stickies lol.. this idea was cute as hell ^^) seems to just
increase inconsistent moderation. sure we can revert bad
decisions, but why go through with this when we don't have to?
adding several mods makes especially little sense if you buy the
premiss that the one mod we've always had = got better judgement
than the new mods (extremely low amount of work is necessary on
these forums). this seems to be the case, given the statements
about lack of trust earlier.
but sure, keep cele for all i care. it doesn't make sense, but i
don't think it will make much difference, positively or
negatively. my main point = we should focus more on stuff that
DOES make a difference. to put it in a famous analogy, noone
cares if wolves have 7.79 radius vision or 7.81 :D

There is quite a lot of behind-the-scenes work, people messaging
me with essays about stickies and post deletion requests.
Better for me to focus on stuff that really matters - and let
mods deal with what I think is absolutely meaningless insane
stuff.
