       Transmutation

One of the eight schools of magic, Transmutation focuses on
shapeshifting and reshaping: changing the physical properties of
some creature, thing or condition. In some way it can be used
like Enchantment to increase or decrease the ability of
something, but the process is more physical and reliant on what
the something is being changed into. This change can sometimes
non-lethally disconnect a spirit from a physical thing, as is in
       the case of Polymorpus.
As the physical properties change, other things that relate to
said properties may or may not change depending on the spell.
The most known transmutation spell is the Polymorph spell- to
change a sapient being into the form of an animal. The sapient
being does not lose their intelligence when becoming an animal,
but may become more instinctual as a result.
Transmutation magic is more mana intensive then other types of
magic. Large amounts of power and energy are needed to affect
       anything of substantial mass.
Transmutation has plenty in common with Alchemy and it is not
uncommon for transmuters to also delve into alchemy. The
elements and items used in alchemy can be transformed via
transmutation to make the process more expedient. They also both
follow the law of Equivalent Exchange. A transmuter who knows
alchemy and chemistry can transmute far greater things.
To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. Power always
       comes at a price.
