Akashic Arts

Akashic arts are a special, rare subset of magicks from any
school that can manipulate souls. They come in two categories:
essentialist and voracitist spells. A user of akashic arts is
called a theosophist, after the creator of the very first
akashic spell.
Akashic arts and theosophists were used extensively during the
First Cataclysm and were infamous for altering the spirits of
enemy prisoners in order to force them to serve and send them to
the Torture Zone. Akashic Arts can also permanently alter the
souls and magic of users through just the use, leading to them
becoming fractured and unstable. As a result, akashic arts
became forbidden and outlawed as a capital crime in all of the
known world, and theosophists in general are widely feared and
hated. Diviners are capable of detecting even trace amounts of
akashic magic, and are employed by many institutions in order to
ferret out hidden theosophists.

ESSENTIALIST
----------------
Essentialist akashic arts allows the mage to alter their soul
and other souls by messing with their 'data'. Performing this
type of magic involves entering a trance during which the caster
loses all five of their senses, and their sense of time. During
this, they can understand and know all the traits of a soul,
seeing past any physical or mental layers.
A casters has access to how much the soul values or 'is' some
noun, and can change or manipulate this amount. The noun itself
is somewhat flexible- it can be abstract (freedom) or more
concrete (lifetime). All of the effects created by this method
are somewhat symmetric - valuation can be positive or negative,
so you can theoretically create the opposite effect by 'flipping
the sign'-- for example, instantly ending a life by manipulating
a souls lifetime. They can even prevent that value from
changing.
Essentialist alteration is usually temporary, but since it
doesn't consume resources outside of mana, in practice it's
possible to repeatedly alter values enough to make the changes
effectively permanent. For example, it is possible to cause
spiritual insanity by manipulating ones soul, which would last
even into the afterlife, or become immortal by constantly
preventing oneself from ageing.
It has been speculated that this could potentially effect a
souls' UF, but this has never been publicly tested.

VORACITIST

Voracitist akashic arts allow the mage to use, consume or expend
a soul or some of its energy in order to cause a variety of
effects that fall under a different school of magic. The energy
does not need to be immediately expended and can instead be used
overtime. For example, it is possible to use this to create a
soul-bond that makes another soul take any sort of physical or
mental damage the user would. Because physical damage can't
actually kill the soul being used, the caster would be unable to
die from any physical attacks and would have to slowly have
their 'extra-life' shaved off with spiritual ones.
