Fey

The fey have a large variation of appearances, oft related to
their clan.
They have lifespans generally of around one-hundred years, and
have a natural ability to sense and wield some kind of magic,
with over half being sorcerers.
The Fey living in the Crown Kingdom live under a strict code,
the "Green word" that forbid them from interacting with the
outside world unless strictly necessary. Those who leave to
discover the world are forever banished, never to return. Even
so, more and more of them decide to leave the safety of the
kingdom to explore the world. As of such, it is estimated that
the Graftian Empire is composed of around 2% Fey total. The Fey
are a fairly matriarchal group ruled by and primarily comprised
of women. The rare men, however, are still held in high regard
as defenders of their home. They still remain deeply solitary,
except when they decide to take another male as ward to train as
a Protector.

Uglies

Curiously, there seems to exist a clan of fey who are not only
banished from the Crown Kingdom, but actively hunted down. Very
rarely, a select few enforcers are sent from the Crown Kingdom
with orders to 'look out for any uglies'.
The Banugale pixies, or the Uglies as they are called by most
other Fey, are one of the few clan of Fey to never step foot
within the Crown Kingdom. While other clans flocked to their
Haven and escaped the tyranny put upon them by mankind, the
Banugales stayed. The horrors and brutality that humanity
brought upon the lands amused them, and the clan can be seen as
a sort of bad omen, always showing their true faces in the wake
of a disaster, massacre, or genocide. Most of the clan members
sign themselves up to fight within human wars or assist in the
creation of magical weapons of mass destruction, thirsty for the
kind of carnage and excitement that could never be seen while
interacting with the generally stuffy other clans of Fae.
They are the only race that is seemingly always aspected toward
illusion magic, a talent that most of them hide in order to not
be found out. Some scholars even theorize that the current
archmage of illusion magic, Goliath, descends from this race of
Fae. After all, they are known to prefer mating with humans
rather than other Banugales.
Their crude nickname comes from their appearance being the
perfect middle between the uncanny valleys of both races,
seemingly off-putting to both mortals and fairies. It is for
this reason that they always wear masks. It is also theorized
that their penchant for illusion magic is also for this reason,
as the Banugales have a common ritual of polymorphing their
faces to that of their lovers as a sign of affection.

The Nameless

It's clear why a majority of magical scholars study the Fey.
Their immense beauty notwithstanding, the magical prowess
inherent in the race is alluring. Even more so, the species as a
whole's ability to adapt to supernatural change. Any Fey one
could find would boast about their race's age and how tied they
are to the land. They are more than right to brag. Even
throughout the multiple crises that befell the world, the
population of the Fey was mainly unchanged aside from targeted
genocides. Despite this ability to adapt to almost any
supernatural occurrence, there is a reason all Fey fear the Dead
Forest.
Unfortunately for the Fey, all blessings are both a gift and a
curse. If a Fey were to stumble upon lands in which the flow of
magic itself was affected, they too would be harmed, the main
reason in which the Fey fear humanity and their usage of Uthium.
Similarly, Fey born within magical dead zones are seemingly
deformed, their wings clipped and magic uncontrollable.
Sometimes, even Fae born within the Crown Kingdom end up like
this, a magical deformity not yet fully investigated. Oddly
enough, those fairies soon disappear, with rumors that they are
murdered by their own parents for the very shame of their birth.
This shame changes those defective fairies to their very core,
as most of them truly believe they are worthless, only able to
confide in those just like them.
These fairies are known as the Nameless, those who are not fit
to even be touched or acknowledged by their fellow Fey. Thus,
they retreat from the Crown Kingdom and to lands uninhabitable
to other Fey. Some believing that the fog that surrounds it is a
crude form of illusion magic planned to ensure that the Fey
betrayed by their own race and abandoned are never to be found
again by the living. Very few claim to have seen a member of
this one in a million race, and all of them tell tales in which
they barely survived, nearly struck to death by akashic magic.

Hellkites

It is argued to this day whether or not Emile Ifhrar, the Queen
of the Crown Kingdom, and all related to her belong to a
sub-race of Fey entirely of their own. The Queen's most vocal
supporters insist that her lineage's rule over the Crown Kingdom
was destined through her genetics, most human scholars believe
the Queen is simply a one-in-a-billion genetic mutation of the
already irregular Hellkite Clan of the Fey. The only Fey Clan to
be named by humans and proud of it, the Hellkites have a long
history of being despised by all humanity due to their magical
power and aggressive nature toward the non-Fey. Usually the
Crown Kingdom's first line of defense in a crisis, the Hellkites
are a proud Clan, lauded for their connection to the queen and
undisputed talent toward conjuration. The majority are respected
toward the fire, earth, or radiation elements, and in the case
of the queen, Divination, and Enchantment. In fact, it is the
Queen's own magical enchantments that protect the Crown Kingdom
from dangerous visitors and keeps up the glamour that ensures
almost all non-Fey or those banished to never return have an
inability to ever find the Kingdom again.
All hellkites sport blood-red wings said to be indicative of the
blood of countless humans their race has spilled over the years.
They have been noted by many to be very similar in appearance
among members, even to those dedicated to studying the Fae.
Theories as to this mainly revolve around an obsession between
being as similar to the queen Emile as possible. Many subsects
of the Clan hope that whenever the Queen perishes, one of their
children will attain the throne. As a result of this, hellkites
are generally quite competitive, constantly trying to prove
themselves as the best of the best through magical dueling.
Recently, any and all hellkites who exhibit the same magical
talents as the Queen receive a drastically different upbringing
from other Fey. Their families send them to the capital of the
Kingdom to be trained by the queen herself. None have returned,
sparking rumors of the Queen either creating an elite guard or
performing dangerous rituals to take their magic for herself.
Despite the brutality of the latter, it is clear that even if it
was revealed that the Queen had been killing other elves to
consolidate her reign, it's not as if anyone could stop her.

Houdinis

Amongst the feys there exists a lineage closest related to
Vanta, this particular lineage given their association were
gifted with the abilities to wield magic unlike many mages. A
testament to their rather peculiar origins was the fact that
their leylines were completely abnormal from the norm which in
turn allowed them the ability to do a variety of things most
normal mages weren't capable of and with a peculiar star glint
like birthmark which functions as a second reservoir much like
how Vanta herself could act as a reserve for all her children,
Houdinis have mutated to having their own sub-reserves. Another
of these peculiar abilities housed by this family was the able
to synchronize with a spirit to either jump start a latent
ability or gather new ones by virtue of whatever spirit/monster
they synchronized with, a special kind of theurgy which is only
capable by those of this family line, an ability related to how
Vanta herself is able to subjugate monsters to her will via
Monster Mash. Though the closest descendants of the Vanta they
may be, the queen of monsters herself is not amicable to the
lineage itself. As due to their transgressions of forgoing the
first Vanta's will and seeking other means to reach
enlightenment of magic and seek complete independence has exiled
them by their Progenitor and forcing the 'Houdini Curse' upon
them. Knowing the dangers of magic and it's constant trace of
twilight with rots the soul, the mother of monsters has cursed
those who descended from the lineage with an unnatural allure
towards Magic, entrancing them to further the path of magic
someway, somehow at some point in their life if not early, then
later.
Their endeavors in seeking enlightenment inadvertently seemed to
contribute to the Herjakan belief which eventually led to the
formation of said religion. As they all seek it eventually,
inevitably leading it to their ruin whether it's by the lack of
proper channels for magic, some experiment even or even
spiritual rot, though the latter being less likely given their
abnormal leylines. Houdinis often face tribulations of magic at
a greater rate than others, sometimes involving those around
them unwillingly, leading them to their demise just the same
hence the 'Curse' and as to why the Houdini line is scarce given
their constant accidents through magic, which is why often most
Houdinis tend to hide their real last name as an effort to get
rid of the stigma surrounding their last names. The family
itself being scattered around the world rather than a proper
family as a means to be rid of the curse by mixing blood or so
others like to believe.
A prime example of said curse, being the case of [s]Corneous[/s]
Velocii's* and crew's escapades nearly killing them often times
through their adventures through the supernatural.
