XCOM (Side Rp#1)

Date: January 15th
Location: XCOM HQ
Everyone at base was instructed to meet in the gathering room
apparently Veronica and Sato had some important news to
discuss. After a while the two walk into the room Owl and the
rest of the crew where having friendly conversations. Sophia had
baked some brownies for everyone to enjoy while the meeting went
on, overall it was a pleasant time all the dread and gloom
before seemed to have dissipated. The two woman clear their
throats beginning the meeting
Veronica: As you may know XCOM is once again starting to make a
come back we may not be as glorious as we once was but im happy
and proud to see us still standing strong. With that being said
i will let Miss Sato explain why i have gathered us all here
Sato: Lets get right down to business i gathered everyone to say
we have a mission i managed to pull a few strings with ZED to
get us this so lets not blow it.
Sato brings forward a image in front of the room apparently this
mission was worth 3000 Terra she would begin to scroll down
showing the mission description it read that whoever accepted it
had to prevent a spawn from being created in a city overrun with
mutants. The whole room fell silent as they slowly realized how
severe of a mission this was
Veronica: Thats not all but i would like you to capture one of
those mutants alive if possible obtaining an alive specimen
could prove very beneficial to us and sacorisa labs Doctor Alex
even went as far to say that it could help the soldiers on the
battlefield if we could crack down on the weakness of them we
could even make anti mutant weapons and gear but that all
depends if you successfully capture one honestly the realms of
what we could do is endless especially when Doctor Alex gets in
his experiment mood.
Owl could feel his body go numb he wasn't sure if this was the
right call after what happened in the dead zone
Owl: How the hell are we suppose to capture one of those
monsters alive ? and have you not forgotten what happened the
last time we went to a dead zone ?
Sato: You capture it with the invention that veronica has and
dont get me started on your faliure as a leader you brain dead
monkeys actually went to a place called the dead zone with no
plan.
Veronica:That was... pretty rude but nether less she doe's have
a point
Veronica brings something out her lab coat it was a small device
with a single button in the center of it
Veronica: Its called the DDNA scrambler it frys and short
circuit's data leaving whoever gets hit by it a complete mess
its super effective against mutants since well their DDNA and
data is already corrupt. This little gadget costed us a lot of
time and money we began working on since the dead zone mission
and could only complete it recently whenever you see a mutant
you think you could capture just press the button and throw it
at them from then on just watch the display simple enough yes ?
Jayden: ... I dont want to be that person but what exactly is
the plan here ?
Sato would swap out the image of the mission with a brand new
one this time it was a map of a city red dots was on it moving
and flicking every second to the side of the map showed notes
Sato: Those red dots are Confirmed mutants as you can see there
are a lot of them precisely around 23. i was only able to gather
this much about them unfortunately we dont have the technology
needed to identify what type of mutants these are but i assume
mostly jaggerwocks and such.
Sato Zooms in Placing two green marks and one blue marker
Sato: Those two green markers are extraction points you would
want to make your way down to Extraction Point A first however
if you cant reach it for some reason we have the back up one
Extraction point B. That blue marker is where the team will be
landing from then on out follow the guideline i set up keep me
informed on what you see as i navigate for you guys.
Makes lines going through the city clearly the routes that the
group were meant to take
Sato: We will be forming two groups of three and a air support
group i already decided who will go in each group based on your
weakness's and strengths
Team A: {Leader-Owl}, Jayden, Thomas
Team B: {Leader-4X}, Vasco, Kevin
Air Support -Austin briggs
Sato: Team A will be heading down Route A expect heavy
resistance as you will be in the thick of mutant territory while
Team B will be heading down Route B clearing all the side
mutants that might appear expect a easier time since Group A
will mostly be drawing the attention once Group B finish they
should converge with Group A and finish picking off whatever is
left. Air support aka Austin will be in a helicopter sniping
away mutants whenever he can while also shooting rpgs at big
groups of them.
Sato smiled her eyes would turn gold
Sato: If you follow my plan things should go smoothly all the
gear and equipment you need has already been packed Everyone get
ready to set off at once we leave in 10 minutes
The group prepares to set off (Time skip) XCOM Arrives to the
location of the mission It was sealed off by a barricade guarded
by zed soldiers the last stand to this threat From the air is a
helicopter inside they could see Austin with a sniper and a
missile launcher by his side. it seemed to zoom off heading
inside of the city. Everyone would stick to the plan each group
heading their own direction.
Sato: Group A im detecting a strong presence ahead its no doubt
a baphomei i would suggest going with caution and if possible
use this opportunity to capture it
Group A heads forward the Baphomei roaring charges at the group
Owl would bring out the device pressing the button before
throwing it at it it would begin emitting a strange sound.
Strange waves of energy emerged all around of it the Baphomei
stopping in its tracks glitching out before ultimately passing
out owl would radio what happened to everyone on the coms.
Taking the device that Doctor Alex gave him called the portable
containment field he would Use it on the mutant capturing and
sucking it inside the device. This device worked similar to that
old movie called ghost buster it acted as a holding cell for
data allowing data to be stored inside and released later.
Moving forward the group would encounter a group of Jaggerwocks
about five of them seemed to be feasting on a corpse Vasco
would chuck a gernade towards them blowing them all up. ! from
the sky a bapohmei would sneak attack the group impaling Vasco
in the chest (90) damage (critical) Owl and jayden would take on
the Bapohmei taking little damage thanks to owl's telsa cannon
taking it down relatively easy. Jayden would rush towards vasco
quickly giving him Inaprovaline and morphine to ease the pain
she would then use some small recovery packs to restore his
signs back to normal. Taking out some bandages she would patch
up the wounds before closing and sealing them
Group B lead by 4x seemed to get their job done pretty easy
picking off unsuspecting mutants one by one eventually they
would meet with Group A while only suffering moderate injurys.
Sato: Good good this went alot more smoother than i imagined
theres only a couple more left then we can get you guys the
hell out of there
Everyone noded as they headed deeper inside of the city suddenly
!!! a large mutant erupts from the ground instantly killing all
the nearby mutants near it this was a completely new type never
before seen
SATO: THIS... THIS WASN'T IN MY CALUCATIONS I WOULD GET BACK WE
DONT KNOW WHAT ITS CAPABLE OF !
Owl: We made it this far... spent so much money we have to
finish this here and now thats the last mutant right ?
Sato: It is but judging from its size any attack could prove
deadly keep your range use long stance attacks while Austin
backs you up with attacks from the air
Austin would bring out his rocket launcher shooting volleys at
it the damage made on it would become apparent however as it got
damaged its body mass seemed to increase as well owl was
charging up his telsa cannon 3 while everyone was damaging it
Sato: EVERYONE KEEP MOVING , HIDE BEHIND COVER WHEN IT LOSES
TRACK OF YOU DONT GET HIT BY IT!
The monster was becoming more aggressive and bigger as it got
damaged. chucking grenades at it the explosion seemed to blow
off its lower body it dint appear to be growing any longer
perhaps it reached its limit regardless it was falling face
forward towards owl using one of its tentacles it would swing a
heavy blow. Owl would attempt to block it with his free hand the
tesla cannon still charging his other hand however the weight
was to much his body couldn't handle it first the shattering of
the armor followed by his bones he tried to endure for as long
as possible his group firing at it however it was to late
his left arm would be torn apart due to the force of the attack.
By this point Owl's telsa cannon was charged he would unleash
his fiery upon it obliterating it where it stood. It was now a
dead pieces of its body was blown everywhere owl would pocket
some of its flesh putting it in his pocket maybe they could
learn some things about it if they studed it. Soon after he
would pass out waking back up in a hospital 4x bought him up to
speed telling him that the mission was sucessful how most of
everyone was now hospitalized for a while and how he was now
missing a arm. Owl smiled thank god nobody died this time he
would fall back to sleep "w... we will speak more later" he
mumbled before passing out again. regardless they had succeed in
their mission but what was this new mutant strain ? and what
dangers lied await
