DATE: January 4th, July 4th (Fey Only)
CULTURAL HOLIDAY
CELEBRATIONS: Natural Order, the Environment, Seasons.
COMMON PHRASES: "Peace be with the spirits."
The winds of winter move into full swing at the tick of January
4th, blowing across all of Myrrh equally with its harshness. But
though the land may flip at the tip of a dime with cruel ice,
the people return the favor as love. At the turn of Salsvelian
comes another beloved holiday to be celebrated across the
world-- Nuit. Started in the Kameonian Feylands, it grew past
culture, religion and land to become the celebrated global
holiday it is now. Roughly three million peoples within Myrrh
celebrate Nuit annually, with the amount only growing each year.
The day originates with a group of Fey Kameonians who believed
that the Motherland was forgetting its tether to nature and the
spirits, forgetting the words of the Spirit King, Shakyamuni.
They chained themselves to trees in a forest that the Motherland
was planning to excavate in order to make space for a new town
and stayed there for ten and three days in frigid cold, using
their lives as a shield for the trees. They underwent threats
and attempts to get them to unchain the forest, with a decree
from the Queen to even cut down the trees with the protestors,
however at the last minute, the decree was withheld.
Talks began in the Kingdom, and roughly one year later, a
celebration occured about the events and the peoples bond with
nature; such that they would give their life for the land, as
the land gives its life for them. The day of the protest,
January 4th, was designated Nuit. Since that day, no new
territories have been erected in the Kingdom and the cities grow
vertically instead of horizontally. Six months after Nuit, a
more subdued celebration of it also occurs-- although this
tradition has yet to spread from the Kingdom.
