SIGNUP: Purple Karjam: Hero Squad
By: KarjamP Date: December 20, 2013, 2:37 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
This is the signup thread for my RPG.
Instead of planning the plot and coming up with the character
sheets needed for NPCs and enemies, I've decided to just make up
a basic plotline and improv the rest as we go along.
Unlike the other RPGs here, this game uses the D6 System by Wild
West Games customized to my liking. I recommend you to read it
up so that you'd know what we're doing in the game. Download it
]here
HTML http://[url=
HTML http://criticalpressmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/corebk150.png.<br
/>(Tell me if you can't download it. WARNING: It's about 32.3MB
big.)
Dice rolls can be made using this
HTML http://rolz.org/group
tool (group name is "Hero Squad Dice
Rolls"). Just tell me the results. Work through the dice room so
that I can have proof that you've rolled. Note that the Wild Die
is going to be used in the game.
Signup rules is as follows:
1. You can have more than one characters as long as I approve of
it.
2. I have the final say on the signup process.
3. Create a character card:
Player Name: Your user name. Used to keep track on whose
character is whose even after they've changed their names.
Name: The name of your character.
Age: The age of your character. Used to provide better favor to
your character, and doesn't impact gameplay. Can change over
time (I'll do it as the GM.) Put "Unknown" if you don't want
your character to have a specific age.
Gender: Can be Male, Female, Hermaphrodite, None or Unknown.
Race: The race or species of your character. If I'm not familiar
with your race, I'll go ask you. Yes, this includes races from
pop culture like the Klingon and the Vulcan. I give the final
say on what race you can be.
Biography: A short biography describing your character. As long
as it's isn't as long as a book.
Skills: This game uses the "no attributes" optional rule.
In other words, there's no attributes, only skills.
All skills start off as if they have the base attribute of 2
dice (unless otherwise noted from the species you've chose. I
get to decide this one).
You have 45 pips (15 dice) to spend on skills.
General skills used for combat are:
[li]Coordination: AKA Dexterity, tasks which involves hand-eye
coordination.[/li]
[li]Endurance: The measure of your body's resistance to any
form of attack.[/li]
[li]Reflexes: The speed on what you react to threats and sudden
occurance.[/li]
[li]Strength: Represents your character's physical power.[/li]
[li]Dodging: This would be tied to reflexes if we're using
attributes, but we're not. Represents how good you're at in
dodging.[/li]

4. Each character starts out with 1 fate point and 5 character
points.
5. Each character has 10 move (10 meters per 5-second combat
round) unless otherwise noted from your race. (I'll decide on
this one).
6. Character HP is 20 + a Endurance roll (by default, it's 2D,
but if you have any points in the Endurance skill, it's
increased.)
7. You'd need permission to use an advantage or a disadvantage.
You can ask questions here, if you want to.

"And don't even think of using something that's extremely
overpowered", right? :P
Also...
As long as it's isn't as long as a
book.
That was funny :))
Made me feel slightly better over spending Christmas without
stepmother or biological father at home... :-[
And I hope you don't mind the off-topic post.
The fact that I said that I have the final say means
that rule's already covered by the text. :P
And nope, don't mind, as long as it doesn't take up the majority
of the posts.

[s]Okay, I'm not going to make you too overpowered:
Reflexes: 6D
Dodging: 6D
(In other words, he's great at dodging enemy attacks and he's
quite fast.)
That leaves you with 7 Dice left.
What other skills do your character have?
And what's the characteristics of your race? What can they do
and what can't they do? And what are they generally good at and
what are they generally bad at? Can it resist something, or is
it weak to something? You don't have to name it, but it would
help me define the characteristics of your character so that I
can both tell what skill defaults there is and also so that I
can accommodate what your race can and can't do.[/s]
EDIT: He must be a good guy in order to participate in this
game. The Purple Karjam won't recruit evil characters in his
hero squad without reasons.
Also, his nature can't be replicated in all world's realities
since they have different types of physics in them. (Why do you
think magic exists in one world and not another, and that
spirits legitimatly exist in one world and not another? {The
dimension-warping device got around this for Yoshiro by turning
him into a type of energy being in worlds where spirits don't
exist or into a gaseous being in world where it's impossible for
one to be a energy being there. Your character's nature means
that in many worlds, he stops being a Eldritch Abomination
HTML http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EldritchAbomination<br
/>since it's impossible for one to exist in them.}. ).
Therefore, you must either heavily alter your character or use
another.

---------------------------------------------------------
Even so, your character is heavily tied within a certain physics
type that many worlds don't support.
In other words, the fact that "he looks different depending on
who views him" relies on worlds where it's possible for that to
happen.
I think it's possible for it to apply in realistic worlds where
Quantum Mechanics exists, but even so, Quantum Mechanics isn't
quaranteed to exist in every world, so in those worlds, everyone
would see him as his true form.
Coming to think about it, it seems fun to see if you can role
play him, so I'll let it past, as long as you can justify his
current biography. :P
So, explain to me what he can do and what he can't.
It's so that I can discern whenever your abilities are valid
within gameplay.
Also, tell me his general expertise both inside battles and
outside it.
(I'll update the first post to make it more clear what's what.
Also updated the rules a bit.)

-Can bend light to darkness, allowing stealth
-Cannot convert darkness to light
-Can cloak an ally
-Shape-Shifter (only Biped)
-Can understand most languages
-Has great speeds across land
-Cannot speed past in sunlight
-Slow in sunlight
-Low damage in sunlight
-Uses Darkness skills
Might add more if you need me to
BIO:
A spirit born from ether, it is powered by shadows and the dark.
Came from the Youkai world, where it wandered onto <insert
planet name>.
I really don't know what a great bio is, so you might need to
give me ideas :P
BTW, the storyline's about the Purple Karjam finding heros from
various worlds in order to help him deal with problems in the
grande multiverse.
Meaning, it's not specific to one planet (nor universe, for that
matter).
And that was just a tease.
While your description makes it seem more obvious that it's
benevolent, the flaw is that it implies that the setting takes
place on only one world. :P
Anyway, is it okay if this can be your biography?
A spirit born from ether, it is powered by shadows and the dark.
Came from the Youkai world, where it managed to find itself in
Karjam's Domain. Seeing great potential, the Purple Karjam
decided to put it on the team he's assembling to help him with
problems within the grande multiverse.
In terms with gameplay mechanics, your default stat for any
speed-related skills are 4 Dice, but you get a penalty of -3
Dice when in sunlight.
Conversely, your movement's 30 except in sunlight (where it's 5
instead).
The Achilles Heel means any damage you inflict with innate
attacks are halved.
All other stuff work as they said they would.
Now, you need to spend the 15 Dice in skills.
What's your character's skills, and how proficient are they?
(Language doesn't count, here)

Minimum Strength is 2.
Anyway,
You have 11 more Dice to spend on skills.
Skills, as in, what's your character's skilled in (ie,
lockpicking, using a gun, computers, etc.), not the abilities
that your character can use (although those would be added to
the list of abilities you can use during gameplay.)
