About TRPG Chess
By: Taylor Date: October 29, 2013, 2:50 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
ABOUT:
TRPG Chess is a variant of Chess... it's basically chess with
RPG elements. ^_^
"TRPG" stands for "Taylor RPG", I guess.
CHARACTERS:
Every player may only have one character: either their King, or
their Queen.
Kings and Queens have the following stats: STRength, DEXterity,
INTelligence, FAIth, and CONstitution.
They also have HP, MP, ATtacK and DEFence for both physical and
magical combat.
The character is highlighted by the color of the player, which
can be anything EXCEPT black, white, and grey.
Character sheets are as follows and anything that isn't in bold
can be made up:
Character pic
Name and last name
Class
Kingdom
Strength:
Dexterity:
Intelligence:
Faith:
Constitution:
HP:
MP:
Attack:
Defense:
Level:
EXP:
Element:
Ability:
Weapon 1:
Weapon 2:
Body Armor:
Gloves:
Shoes:
Accessory 1:
Accessory 2:
Mana Egg:
Inventory:
Gold Coins:
Classes available are King for male characters and Queen for
female characters. Genderless characters are not allowed.
Kingdom can be... well, your kingdom. It can even be a town or a
city, that isn't a kingdom at all :P
Name and last name can be any name you'd like. Even Jack Sparrow
:))
Mana Eggs allow characters to cast spells.
Character pics can be self-drawn, or made via an avatar creator
(as I've done in my example below).
Elements and Abilities can be chosen from the Tome of the
Elements
HTML http://shanescavestory.createaforum.com/tomes/tome-of-the-elements/msg4734/#msg4734<br
/>that is mostly used for the Endanian Chronicles forum RPG.
Only one element and ability may be selected. As with the RPG,
every five levels you can change your ability and element, if
you wish.
Regarding warriors, here's how they are mentioned:
Pawns:
Bishops:
Knights:
Rooks:
Queen:
King:
They are mentioned by name and such.
You can buy Pawns using Gold Pieces.
Pieces can be placed in any order you wish.
Defeating the character leads to victory - if Shane were to play
against me, he'd need to defeat my Queen.
Your character can only move 1 square in any direction, and can
castle. The opposite gendered unit can move any amount of
squares diagonally, horizontally and vertically.
Checkmate only comes if your character is defeated.
To make it somewhat better to understand:
If your character is female (Queen), pawns can be promoted to
Kings but not Queens. Kings can move any amount of squares
horizontally, diagonally or vertically. Your Queen must be
protected at all costs - if she dies in battle, you lose.
If your character is male (King), pawns can be promoted to
Queens but not Kings. Queens can move any amount of squares
horizontally, diagonally or vertically. Your King must be
protected at all costs - if he dies in battle, you lose.
Defeating enemies earn XP. This can be boosted by certain
equipment, and also the level of the enemy. XP given is equal to
the normal amount of XP multiplied by level.
Level 3 pawns give 12 XP, for instance. All pieces gain XP in
combat, and drop Gold Pieces in battle. Sometimes they may even
drop items, that can be collected. Items are used for the entire
team.
Only your character can be equipped by you; your other units
will automatically equip themselves with whatever they want.
You can place your units before a battle begins, they have to be
on the 1/2 or 7/8 rows, depending on your color. (This applies
to two-handed chess. Four-handed chess is still a bit unknown.
:-[)
Below is a list of level 1 XP, along with default stats.
Also included is how their XP works.
Pawns: 4 XP (level 1 / HP: 25 / MP: 0 / STR: 0 / DEX: 0 / INT: 0
/ FAI: 0 / CON: 0 / ATK: 5 / DEF: 0) [+1 XP per attack; needs
{11 XP × level} to level up]

0 / FAI: 0 / CON: 0 / ATK: 5 / DEF: 5) [+1 XP per attack; needs
{20 XP × level} to level up]
Queen: 24 XP (level 1 / HP: 25 / MP: 0 / STR: 0 / DEX: 1 / INT:
5 / FAI: 0 / CON: 0 / ATK: 2 / DEF: 0) [+2 XP per attack; needs
{34 XP × level} to level up; only applies to non-leader Queens]
King: 24 XP (level 1 / HP: 25 / MP: 0 / STR: 0 / DEX: 0 / INT: 5
/ FAI: 0 / CON: 0 / ATK: 3 / DEF: 0) [+2 XP per attack; needs

Here's mine:

---------------------------------------------------------
BATTLES:
Battles are triggered when a piece moves to the same square as
an enemy unit.
Combat will pause all other actions, except in four-handed
chess, where players that aren't involved in combat can continue
to move around.
They can even join in, but they will be unable to move their
other units.
ATTACKING:
Weapons have different ranges. Below are three diagrams; the X
mark where a unit can target.
Most weapons have a range of one square. This includes unarmed
units.
Pikes, spears and spells have a range of two squares, but only
horizontally and vertically; diagonal range is one square.
Ranged weapons are entirely different.

NORMAL WEAPONS PIKES AND SPEARS
RANGED WEAPONS
AND SPELLS
[/tt]
Attacking / capturing will begin combat.
Attacking from two or more squares away will make the enemy
unable to defend himself/herself, depending on his/her equipped
weapon(s).
Some spells won't initiate combat, of course - healing spells
are obviously not going to initiate combat. :P
The important unit can also be captured via RPG battles, so if
the King / Queen is in check, a player can choose not to move
them.
DEFENSE:
If a character stands on a block marked with X above, and it is
within range of the attacked character, he/she can fight back.
COMBAT:
[tt]
+-------+
FIGHT
MAGIC
ITEMS
FLEE!
+-------+
[/tt]
In combat, you can make choices.
FIGHT will make your character attack.
MAGIC is only usable if your character has Mana Eggs.
ITEMS make your character use items. :P
FLEE! makes your character attempt escape.
The attacker always goes first, unless the King / Queen has an
ability that lets them go first.
Critical Hits inflict double damage.

Forgot about this.
STRENGTH: increases physical attack for every three points.
DEXTERITY: increases accuracy for every six points.
INTELLIGENCE: increases magical attack for every three points
and MP for every five points.
FAITH: increases magical defense for every four points.
CONSTITUTION: increases physical defense for every four points
and HP for every three points.
When you level up, you can spend 5 stat points on Strength,
Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith or Constitution.
The only way to increase HP is via Constitution and the only way
to increase MP is via Intelligence.
Accuracy is, by default, 90%.
When you create your character, you have 12 stat points to
spend. ^_^

Um.
You just gave me an idea, unintentionally: data vampires as
enemies in The Endanian Chronicles.
I still haven't finished the bestiary yet.

Okay, that was random. :P
Anyways, sorry guys, I seem to have lost interest in Chess, much
less an RPG related to Chess. So unless some mysterious force
awakens my inner desire, I won't participate.
To be honest, I 70% posted this post for that pic above. :P
Ah, the randomness.
