SFNE Fright Fest

I wrote this for my journalism class, but I figured you guys
would appreciate it too.

Six Flags New England delivers a good, though sometimes rocky,
Fright Fest event
On October 5th, I took the trek and drove 3 hours to Agawam,
Massachusetts for my second visit to Six Flags New England of
the year. Although not perfect, the park did bring a very nice
event.
Pricing
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I would never, ever,
pay for a daily admission ticket or a meal at Six Flags. Every
year I get a season pass and a premium dining plan (I’m
upgrading to a Diamond Elite Membership next year, just selling
more of my soul to Six Flags). $60 admission or $14 for what I
like to call “Russian Roulette: Rip off Addition,” (food that
you never know the quality of), is ridiculous. With my passes,
I got free admission and free meals (kinda, we’ll get to that
later). I did, however, pay FIFTY DOLLARS for a haunted house
pass. With it, I got free admission and a pass to skip the line
for all 5 haunted houses, which we will also get to later.
Meals
I got lunch and dinner at the park, and they were your typical
Six Flags quality of food. I ate lunch at Johnny Rockets with
almost no wait, and decent food which I was pleased with. After
Diet Coke nearly killed me this summer, I have to get Powerade
every time I go to Six Flags, which I’ve learned is an acquired
taste/heart attack. I ate dinner at the picnic area. That
being said, I didn’t. I waited in line for food for about a
half hour and then I finally got to the front at 8:03 P.M.
“Sorry, we don’t accept meal plans past eight o’clock.” If you
didn’t hear me correctly, I waited in line for A HALF HOUR and
got my food at EIGHT O’ THREE PM. There were six workers there
pushing out about one meal every two minutes, which means, if I
did my math correctly, each worker was doing about 20 seconds of
work per meal. However, the more likely scenario is that NO ONE
WAS WORKING and the line was held up in the process. It’s fine,
though. I’m fine. Everything is fine. I’m fine.
Entertainment
I watched one show, Hell’s Belles. This show was unpleasant to
say the least, but the more professional way to put it would be
that the show sucked. I hate to sound mean, (not really
though), but the actors could not sing for their lives and the
music selection or Imagine Dragons and Taylor Swift didn’t fit
the whole “Fright Fest” theme.
The Haunts
After I sacrificed college to pay for my $50 wristband, I did
some haunted houses. Me being the man baby I am was a little
more frightened than the other 3 people in my party, and I’m not
ashamed to admit I put my hand on one of their backs every time
I walked through one.
We started with Midnight Mansion, which should definitely be
flaunting it’s “4 years without burning down” achievement, but
unfortunately wasn’t. This was nothing special, and honesty I’m
a little upset the close their Houndini ride (where this haunt
is located) early in the summer to prepare for a lackluster
haunted house. I would’ve much rather ridden Houdini.
We then went to Nightmares, which someone apparently thought was
a 4D experience when they punched one of the workers and got the
entire thing shut down for a half hour. We walked in, went
through a little bit and all the lights turned on. I initially
thought it was a trick and they were gonna shut them off and
have something jump out as us. Then we got evacuated and
someone else got evacuated in a cop car. It was a lovely
welcome to the Boston area, honestly. The haunted house was
mediocre but much better than Midnight Mansion.
There were two I didn’t do, but the rest of my party did. While
they did that, I went to go get dinner. It was around 7:30 and
I was super excited to go get food.

The Rides
I started my day off with Superman. I walked on twice with no
wait, which is extremely lucky. Almost as lucky as getting
dinner. Pettiness about the biggest injustice of my life aside,
this ride was and always will be incredible. Other than the
bulky restraints that felt like a shark continuously nibbling on
my leg undecided if it were going to take it off or not, the
ride is great. The layout, the height, the setting all add up
to making this an incredible experience.
After Superman, we headed over to Batman. If you haven’t
noticed, this park has right to DC Comics characters and doesn’t
let you forget it. This coaster is good, but when compared to
other coasters isn’t super great. The ride is rather forceless
and just kinda meanders around it’s layout, which also seems
really uninspired. It manages features a loop, zero-G roll and
two corkscrews but still no dinner for me. I’m making it sound
like I hate this ride, and I really don’t, it’s just that the
more coasters I ride the less special this one seems to me.
After Batman, we went to another very creatively named coaster,
The Joker. This ride in insane, and honestly one of my
favorites. This was my first 4th dimensional coaster (also
known as the coasters where you sit on either side of the track
and your seat independently flips as you go through the track).
This ride is completely disorienting and unfortunately gets a
lot of flack for being a clone and being at other parks. What
my fellow enthusiasts refuse to acknowledge is that most people
aren’t dumb enough to pay the amount of money we do to travel,
and they only visit their home park. This ride is great and
although we find it at a lot of parks, it’s great and the locals
should love it.
We then moved to Harley Quinn Spinsanity, my first and only
non-coaster ride of the day. This is a giant pendulum ride
where you get thrown back and forth and continuously get higher
and higher. This is my favorite non-coaster ride, and
apparently it’s the same case for the entire state of
Massachusetts because I waited two and a half hours to ride this
ride. Maybe if the line were shorter I would’ve gotten my food
on time. I nearly neglected to tell you the fact that I rode
this closer to night, which means that (as usual in October in
the New England area), it was cold. 50° isn’t bad. Harley
Quinn is very fun. Harley Quinn in 50° is very bad and not fun.
I love this ride and there is nothing wrong with it, but when
you feel like the saliva in your mouth is going to freeze it’s a
different experience to say the least.
After I was denied my rightful meal, we ended the night with
Wicked Cyclone. This ride is incredible. I have traveled all
over the country to ride coasters and this is still my number
one. I was fortunate enough to get a back row ride at night and
it was one of my best rides on anything ever. Who needs a
girlfriend or a basic understanding of math when you can rank
your rides on roller coasters, right? Right?
Overall
This was a fun trip overall but there were quite a few issues I
had. Not my best trip but still fun and it’s a park I’d highly
recommend. Anywho, please donate to my GoFundMe so I can make
up for the meal that I was so rightfully denied. The court case
is November 2nd, and I’d appreciate some support through this
difficult process.

well, it was well written, you wrote out your trip, what ya did,
etc. I enjoyed it!
