Introducing my 1980/81 Series III
Purchased by the parents in 1992, and used as a work hack ever
since. Once I passed my driving test it was mine, daily driver
for a few years before being rebuilt on a student budget.

After getting back from the t'pit and deepest Englandsire with
only a few valves left in the engine, I thought it about time to
treat the truck to some TLC. Logically I started by refurbishing
the rear crossmember and fitting a one peice door seal to the
back (awful job).

I then decided the large tyres and the drum winch really dont
see enough use for me to justify having them, so they went - for
now.

Also on the day of me leaving for t'pit I forgot to put the pins
in on the bonnet, when went for a flying lesson and landed in a
ditch, was quite comical but rather dangerious. So a replacement
bonnet was obtained - all looking rather splinded if I dont say
so myself.

Now out of MOT, and a lack of funds takes the old girl off the
road. Soo over the winter I have a lot too do! (With the
eventual aim to make her a bit more euroleafing friendly!
Fit passanger side door seal
Weld up the chassis
Fix the front velance panel
Replace the lower rail on the catflap + fit new struts
Replace the head, rings, timining chain and tensioner (might
even go desiel!)
Repaint the body coastguard style
Fit coastguard style spot lights
Wire up the driving lights
Fit coastguard syyle reversing lights + switch
Replace the front number plate
Fit sailbury rear axle & shorten the props (front one needs
balanced too)
Upgrade to 110 Diffs
Source replacement wheels and tyres
Refurbish roof rack
Fit headlining
Sound Proofing (engine bay and underside of seatbox)
Replace headlights & upgrade the bazels
New bushes all round
Replace the sills
Replace the passanger door skin
Replace the bumper
Fix the passanger wing & replace outer skin
Wish list - Heated windscreens, better seats & upgraded springs
(lets hope the 110 sells for a good price!)

bdcing Love it, I too have a ex cg s3 in that colour, can I
ask where you got your paint from and did you specify a paint
code or have it matched to the landy? I need to paint my rad
panel and bulkhead soon before rot starts setting in rbchn
keep up the good work

I'm afraid after 10 years of being quite a unique patina, its
time for full repaint. In 10 years time it will most likley look
the same again.
The paint was a bugger to get, its Royal Blue, some B&Q's will
make it up (Gravesend in kent will) others wont. However When i
tried to get it I had a section of paint with me - the colour
match failed to pick it up. However, I was on a mission, so
while in B&Q I went and found a some product packaging of the
right colour, I found the darkest section on a polyfiller box is
Royal Blue, colour match (which came up Royal Blue ?!?) and the
job was done. However it is not like any other paint I have
used, the blue is like a dye. Happy hunting.

She's looks a bit sad atm - still doing a few bits and pieces on
her. Found the correct winch and stops to fit. Chassis will be
needing some love too before the end of summer. The list gets
bigger and bigger :(
