       Diddy
By: Jeremy Date: April 1, 2017, 5:04 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Last year Diddy started being advertised for sale. I certainly
wasnt after it but ended up paying a mutually disagreeable
amount and ended up owning Diddy...
Rivet counters look well away now ;D
Diddy was built by the Rumsey brothers as a 88" 2a tray back
with a Rover 6 cylinder in it. I believe it is well known in the
Series 2 Club but as I'm not a member I dont know!
It then passed onto another owner who sold it me as this -

It had many many faults. Ran like absolute rubbish, trayback was
no use to man nor beast, looked stupid etc etc.
       So I chopped it about!

The rear was "interestingly" constructed, the supports where
full of water and I'm still not certain how it was bolted to the
       cab. Anyway off it came...

Took a but longer than ideal but at this point I had a plan.
Found an ex-station wagon tub with the four jump seats still
fitted in reasonable condition. In Scotland...

Couple of roof sides from somewhere (no windows on this one!)
and the roughest station wagon roof ever from Sodbury.

Fitting all up she started to look good (in my eyes!)

Added a spare winch I had kicking around as well
A door I had from an old 110, some nice new springs

Then some new Goodyear MTR's to some take off rims and then hit
a stop. New job etc meant no more time so next stop to an auto
electrician to sort out the wiring

Loads of work including changing the ridiculous three dial dash
(doesnt fit with a 2a interior, a black two dial is back in with
       a few tweaks!)
Once he had finished off to my local specialist to do all the
little bits - full service, new props, seat belts, etc etc etc

I quite like your 3 tone colour, does it have lpg fitted or is
that not a vaporiser fitted on top of the footwell.

Its got a remote servo, I assume that was the only space for
       it?!

I'm glad it wasn't just me that wasn't keen on the tray back...

It would have looked good if it was a 109 but a sorty trayback
       doesnt look right.

Looks much better now! Traybacks only suit longer wheelbase
       vehicles.
That said, I reckon an 88" Forward control trayback would look
       good

I suspect it might gambol on heavy braking.
       Build one!
We can make a fortune on Youtube showing the emergency stop
sequence going down Caravan Hill near Exeter Racecourse.

Doing such a magnificent creation is actually on my bucket list.
If I aquire a cheap series 3, i may well do so and the cheap v8
I have aquired will go into that
If I did the FC out of a series 2, I wonder what reaction the
       series 2 club would give?
