       Greetings from North Northumberland

May I introduce Laura our 1971 South African LWB Series III,
which is now a hardtop though was a canvas clad beauty when I
first saw her in Newcastle upon Tyne. Assembled at the Leykor
factory from a CKD kit, she left South Africa as a white hard
top and was imported back into the UK in February 1987, she was
on a Q plate when I bought her, but thanks to the LROC of South
Africa we were able to establish her year of birth even if the
engine was a wee bit younger out of a SWB from either late 73 or
early 74. We decided to try and restore her back to the way she
was when she left South Africa, we have replaced the front fuel
tanks with newly fabricated ones which are still filled from
their respective wing tops, the fresh water tank located behind
the front passenger seat and draining in front of the rear wheel
arch is still original and holds water though we don,t drink it
or keep it filled. the front bench seat was recovered in leather
rather than vinyl (an extra £100), the rear bench seats are new
but the location points are original, front seat belts have been
fitted. We have owned her for the last eight years and hope now
that I am retired to be able to paint her white if we get any
summer and I have completed the list of jobs that need doing in
and around the house, strange no list before retirement,
Oh the joys of Land Rover ownership, we also own a 99 Freelander
di 3 door and a 2005 TD4 Sport (everyday car)

If you are struggling to put pictures up, may I suggest
       upolading via Photobucket?
It's a bit fiddly but seems to work once you have the hang of
       it.
