worked out in the yard today

Even though there is quite a bit of ice and snow
on the ground yet, we worked out in the yard this morning
uncovering the roses (rose cones) and taking the burlap off the
arborvitae. It is suppose to be in the 40's all week so I hope
a lot of the snow will melt so I can get into the perennial beds
and rake the leaves out. Next week I want to cut back the
ornamental grasses and clematis and clean out the strawberry
bed. I got my little greenhouses out of the shed today and
whenever the temps are well into the 40's I will be bringing out
the little seedlings I have growing under the gro-lights. The
tomatoes are really getting tall and need sunlight.
Anyone else been able to work outside this spring?

It's too muddy here too. All the snow we
got day before yesterday has melted, so that's good. We're
suppose to warm up into the 50's by the weekend so I'm really
excited for that!

I weeded the lower raised garden a few days ago...today I cut
back a bunch of brush..plants (woods) surrounding my upper
raised garden. We are going to put some t-posts in and string
some wire around the garden and attach it to a solar fence
charger..just in the visiting deer or two from last year decide
to return..never run out of things to do..Peggy I still have a
lot of pruning to do too..I always see something new..

too cold and damp for these old bones. ....maybe if it gets into
the 50s I'll venture out. It's so mushy and wet too.
Glad you were able to get out and do some things Peggy!

I'm sure by the end of the week with these warmer
temps it will be too muddy for me to do much else in the yard
... that is why I'm taking advantage of it while the snow is
still on the ground. ha ha
Gloria, that sounds like a good idea for the deer. I may have
to look into those solar chargers for around my vegetable
garden. Even though I fence it to keep out the rabbits and
small animals, the deer step right over it. Last summer I had
two in there quite often. We have had deer in our yard every
night since November ... one night there were 9 of them. They
will probably stick around to see what I plant in the garden
this spring. :(

Peggy..I was telling a friend about the deer and the
fencing..she said they are probably announcing my garden to the
entire deer network...and I said yes....twittering each
other..lol.
