spring rains are here
By: 4Seasons Date: March 10, 2013, 6:32 pm

We have had over an inch of rain in the past 24 hours on top of
the 18 inches of snow still on the ground. What a mess! In Feb
there was 17 inches of snow. Much of it had started to melt and
then this past Tuesday we got 9 more inches of snow. Our
backyard looks like a lake! ::) The whole week is going to
be above freezing during the day so even more of the snow will
melt ... gonna be lots of flooding. I am ready for spring but
wish the thaw would come a bit slower.

fast with the rain we have had today. Very foggy out tonight!

That's a lot of snow and rain Peggy! We got
5 1/2 in. Wed. but it's all gone now. It got up to 70 degrees
today! We're expecting rain in tonight and all day tomorrow so
it will be pretty muddy for a while. I've just been ready for
some warm weather, and it looks like it might finally be
coming.

Wow Terry, 70°!!!! It was only 40° here. Like Ev, we ahve
had lots of fog since yesterday with all this snow. I would
guess it will all be gone by mid week if we stay above freezing.

We were outside a lot today. It was
wonderful and the pups really enjoyed it!!! The weather guy
just said that we won't get as much rain as they first thought
tomorrow, and temps will get into the 60's. After that we stay
in the high 40's and 50's the rest of next week. I can handle
that!

Here we have been in the high 50's and 60's during the
day...still anywhere from 28 to 35 at night..though they are
just beginning to warm up a bit.

Wow girls, that's a lot of snow to be having. We have only had
dustings twice this year.....pretty normal for us. However,
spring seems to be coming slowly to the southland...we have had
some really cold temps......which has kept things from budding
out too fast. However, the daffs and hyacinths are blooming and
I've had two bouquets already. Rain started last night...much
needed, and continues. I think we then start another gradual
warmup.

It is so good to see familiar names. I joined HGTV General
Gardening after GT went away and found a nice new home there
with friendly folks. Gardeners are always friendly. We've even
shared seeds and such back and forth already. However, I miss
the old GT folks.........we were together so long it was like
losing family members.
So happy to be able to communicate with everyone again.
We are still alternating between winter and spring..........up
and down. The next few days will be "UP", but the temps are
still below normal for us.

No rain here today thank heaven. After a foot of snow last
fri...that was enough. Temps presently warming up nicely. Hope
it lasts. Bare ground now seen and I just counted over a dozen
fish that overwintered in the pond. Spring's a-coming. Crocus
greens are up and hellebore, too.
