How are we all? Bearing up under the Covids?
By: NickWalton Date: October 28, 2020, 10:20 am

Afternoon everyone!
Ukulele stuff...
I know I have not been active for far too long now for many non
covid reasons, but I do follow facebook and look into here from
time to time. I do miss you old bu**ers!
Having had my one trigger finger sorted last year I started to
get both the Uke and my guitar out and even had a little play
together with Rew, however, my left hand suddenly developed
trigger finger this time not the right like last year and
curtailed playing much for some time too long!
Jump forward to about six weeks ago I managed to get a referral
to New Cross Hospital for a Doc to take a look at my hand and
see what was what? An operation was out of the equation, sadly,
due to the dreaded Covids but he did offer yet another injection
in my hand to try and calm the finger from locking up, which is,
very painful.
Good news is, within a few weeks I was bashing out tunes on the
ukulele and doing gentle finger picking on the guitar as the
steel strings need more effort than the uke's nylon ones.
Wellbeing and shopping... and a bit of hooch!
So, how are we all coping?
Shopping, drinking and having fun seems to have stopped in the
normal sense for us?
I now make homebrewed wine 5 gallons at a time and keep a number
of people neighbours and family well watered.
Eating out is not something we want to do as the wife is at risk
and probably so am I now? However, if you live within four miles
of Bantock park you really ought to try Kaptin Korma for a damn
good Indian curry, they are exceptional. You think they are
pricey at first but wait until you see the size and quality of
the portions, they really have been enormous. They are so big,
we ordered our normal curries like we do elsewhere but when it
came, we never ate the one curry and had it with some home
cooked rice the week after! Its excellent value then!
They charge a bit for delivery @ £4.50 a time via deliveroo but
you can collect from the restaurant yourself and save the cash,
you just have to wear you mask etc and risk catching something?
The future...
I think the Covids will be here for sometime yet, it might be
like when aids was everywhere, but, slowly we got used to the
threat and they made a few drugs and it was sort of sorted if
you consider living with aids as sorted?
I cant wait for the club to reopen but, will I have the guts to
come? Only time will see I am afraid? I really would like to get
back up to speed and have a good sing song with my mates?
So, just how are you all coping? What you doing, where you going
etc etc
Let me know, I fancy a chat...
Taraabit!
Nick

Much like Nick I am maintaining a very low profile. My wife is
working from home so we are quite isolated. We did manage to get
a holiday in September but parts of it were scary due to fools
not sticking to the rules. I keep myself busy baking and
cooking. Our diet has greatly improved now that I mostly prepare
meals from scratch. I only venture out to collect our
prescriptions and fresh fruit and veg. Everything else is
delivered.
Hope everyone is safe and well.
We can get through this and come out strumming and singing
Take care
Zig

Andy has been furloughed for the second time during the
pandemic but keeping busy on our allotment.Sadly for some, I'm
working flat out. We managed a holiday in Rhodes but it was very
different than we are used to. Missing our Thursday night strums
but hopefully we can keep practising and it will all come
together again next year. Take care everyone...stay safe and
keep strumming. Kind regards to th all. Andy & Julie😊

Great to hear from you all. As you know myself, Keith and Joe
are keeping busy on Zoom on Thursday nights and during the
better weather and before lockdown we had a socially distanced
strum at an outside venue in Coseley. Glad to hear you are all
keeping relatively healthy. Like Nick I have been making
chutney and pickled onion, and like Zig I still make cakes,
although being diabetic now means I have to limit the cake I
eat. I knew we would end up being diabetic after all those
birthday chocolates! We will have to think of something else
bring. Pickled onions
perhaps!!!!😆😆😆😆😆
Anyway lovely to hear from you. Keep on posting and we can keep
in contact till we meet again. Stay safe everyone
Di x

Hi Folks, Seconds out Round Two, Its either baby boom
time Or a good fisticuffs, as we are still in love the
fighting is out but..... as we are in our 58th year of
marriage the first option is not looking good, so Out comes
the Jig-saws.
