Micronational Culture
By: Covanese Republic Date: November 2, 2014, 4:26 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Covanellis does not currently have very much culture, however we
do have some. Most of our culture is based around miniature
terrestrial or aquatic gardening, and I find it very enjoyable
to start a new miniature garden.
A favourite activity of mine, that I like to regard as Covanese
(I have never seen it done anywhere else), is to collect the
caps of beer, wine and champaigne bottles, and create a tiny
moss garden in them. It is a great thing for putting on desks or
in places that need some greenery, especially if they do not
recieve much light, as not many plants can grow in such
conditions.
Do any other nations on these forums have any culture that they
might share? I think it is very interesting to hear about other
micronational culture, and the general creativity that it often
entails. If your micronation has any notable culture, please
share it with us!

In Trebia it is a lovely custom to Troll each other, Problem?
We have a lot of love for jokes, pranks, and laughing. Maybe
that is an icon for Trebian culture. We parodize a lot of
things.
We are alcohol lovers, and personally I dream of becoming a
moderate drinker. Most of us drink beer or wine regularly, and I
always drink wine in Christmas and Champagne in New Year.
We also got our own art. 2 of our Trebian citizens are anime
drawers. I and another of my citizens sometimes draw other
stuff, and I am always drawing and passing religious art. I have
made around 3 portraits of Jesus Christ, a drawing of Saint
Ambrotius of Milan, a drawing of a Templar Soldier, and many
drawings of nature, landscapes, and similar. I have also written
a poem and a song "I wish I was In Trebia" ("I wish I was in
Dixie" parody ;D )
Trebia's gastronomy is eager to develop. We have a recipe called
Olive bread, which is bread that tastes like olive oil. We also
love grilled meat, and I personally love my meat when it is very
well cooked ;D
I am also working on a Trebian folk music. I am a clarinetist,
and at least two of my Trebians are violin players (I want to
learn and play violin too). Among the folk instruments of Trebia
I wish to include:
-Guitar (No players avaliable)
-Tambourine (basically every Trebian could do this job)
-Violin (2 players avaliable)
-Clarinet (1 player avaliable, me ;D )
-Maraca (every Trebian could do this one too)
-"Pujador" and "Repicador" (kinds of Panamanian drums) (No
players avaliable, but classes are cheap)
-Accordion (No players avaliable)
Some of us are also aspiring philosophers. Some of our ideas
are:
"True liberty doesn't exist, because every action you do has a
consequence"
-(I know who said it first but I don't want to disrespect his
privacy)
"A man is not defined by his muscles or his balls, but for the
power of his mind, dogs have balls too, but they aren't men"
-Paulus Aemilius I, leader of Trebia

I very much love visual arts, however I am more so attracted to
traditional styles, especially those of China. My style of
painting is somewhat inspired by those of traditional Chinese
painting methods, however is not the same as Chinese painting
because I do not have proper brush types, nor ink blocks.
Instead, I use acrylic paints diluted slightly in water, and the
general brush types used in european art styles.
Regarding gastronomy, Covanellis has two much-loved recipes that
I believe to be ours. The first is Rosella Bread (often called
Pan-Roselle or Moyen), which is a semi-flat bread (2-4cm thick,
and often bubbles at the surface) with minced herbs and rosella
leaves in it.
Our second recipe, which is much loved alongside Moyen, is
Rosella leaf dip. In this recipe, Rosella leaves and herbs are
crushed into a paste and then mixed with oil in a saucepan until
brown. The resulting food can be eaten as it is or mixed with
cream cheese for a slightly different texture.
Our only song is our national anthem (Nation of the Flame),
which I am still trying to have orchestrated, however orchestra
applications that are effective and easy-to-use are proving
difficult to find.
Covanellis also has some citizens who enjoy philosophy,
including me, some of my favourite quotes include:
"Happiness is not a thing that can be brought to someone through
gifts, experiences or people. Happiness is made by a persons
attitude towards these things."
- Bailey McCahon
"Take a leaf and look at it. Look at it really hard, and notice
the fine detail of that leaf. Think about what goes on inside
that humble leaf, what it is, and you realise that a leaf is
more than what you thought it to be. Everything is like this,
but it is up to us to open our eyes and see it."
- Rynae Buckenham

Lundenwic has quite a few drinkers as well. In fact it is
customary to drink beer during the Parliamentary Sittings.
We have a former Irish Ladies darts champion, but apart from
that our culture is also poor...
