       Micronational Committee for Climate Change
By: Covanese Republic Date: October 23, 2014, 5:20 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I propose the creation of the Micronational Committee for
Climate Change (abbreviated MCCC), which will serve the purpose
to create and share new green technology, in order to minimalise
Micronational carbon footprints, both before and after
       macronational recognition.
Nations involved will be expected to work productively with each
other to fund and research new green technology. They can then
work together to raise funds for purchasing international
patents and sell their new product to the world.
       Joining Form
       ---------------
       Nation Name:
       Skype Username:
Is your nation able to design or produce new green technology?
(Yes/No - If yes, please specify):
       Reason for Joining:
I will more than likely expand the joining form once further
       decisions have been made.
       Thank you for your time!

I support this and would join the committee. I do have some
experience with nuclear power generation, as I'm currently
planning to get a Nuclear Engineering degree.

I would also be ready to support the MCCC, but for now what we
can do is rather limited. Still, we'll make suggestions as best
we can, though, unfortunatley, we don't have any citizens who
       are environmental experts.

Ok, now that we have thee nations who have agreed to support the
movement, I will edit the original post to include a joining
       form.
I will also endeavour to learn how to create a skype lounge, so
that members of the committee can express ideas or talk with
each other in a more instantaneous manner.

I'll start by being the first nation to join!
       Nation Name: Republic of Covanellis
       Skype Username: covanellisgov
Is your nation able to design or produce new green technology:
Yes - We are able to design
Reason for Joining: The Covanese Government believes that
Climate Change is a very real threat that could begin to show
its immense adverse effects in the next 20-50 years. We believe
that we (the Human race) could slow or even stop these effects,
and possibly reverse climate change, bringing the earths
atmospheric composition back to natural levels, through the use
of new green technology that either lessens or completely
eradicates a carbon footprint. We wish to take part in the
design and maybe even future production of green technology, and
so would like to found this Committee.

Is your nation able to design or produce new green technology?
(Yes/No - If yes, please specify): No, I'm afraid not.
Reason for Joining: The Republic of USI wants to protect the
environment by taking active participation in micronational
environmental affairs. USI's Environment Agency can make
suggestions of many sorts to support the MCCC and play a role in
alerting other serious micronations about the MCCC.
       Sincerely,
       Gabriel N. Pelger
       Acting Environment Minister

Is your nation able to design or produce new green technology?
Maybe, it depends what you need if it small then of course we
can create it, but if it's a large bit of technology then no it
       would be very expensive.
Reasons for Joining: Oryland want to protect the environment a
lot more than most, because it is one of our goals when we
become a true country, therefore we try the best we can do
protect the environment as much as possible. Plus we've got
loads of ideas to protect the environment and would be happy to
       share them.

       Ok, you are both in!
I will try and learn how to create a skype lounge for the
committee now, as it is probably the best and safest method of
sharing technological ideas, especially if they aren't patented.

Well, now that there are three nations as part of this
committee, why don't we get down to business!
I suggest that a weekly or bi-weekly meeting be held on a skype
chat, where we will discuss environmental issues in our
micronations (and also in their surrounding macronations) that
require a plan of action too tackle. Some examples of these are:
       - habitat destruction
       - wildlife protection
       - CO2 emissions
       - food production
       - housing
       - other infrastructure
These are all things that need to be addressed by our
micronations, so that when the cities are finally being built,
they have a minimal impact on resident flora, fauna and
       ecosystems.
I also propose a new name for the committee, as I have no doubt
we will also be covering environmental issues outside of climate
       change.
I propose the name the 'Micronational Committee for Ecological
       and Environmental Preservation' (MCEEP).
I will set up a skype chat now. IM me your timezones so that an
appropriate meeting time can be worked out, as well as meeting
       frequencies.

Re: Micronational Committee for Climate Change
By: Kingdom of Trebia Date: November 14, 2014, 10:10 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I am not joining yet as I have no skype, but I will talk to my
people to work on that, if I can put them together :-\
I suggest to focus not only on CO2. As I want to study Agronomy
in the University (once I get there ;D ), I have found out that
some dangerous chemicals (Like DDT) can spoil the soil. And the
atmosphere isn't the only valuable of mankind. We also have
hydrosphere and lithosphere, and my suggestion covers both.
We have to focus research on environment-friendly (organic if
possible) fertilizers and pesticides, to boost food production
without harming the environment. I personally already rely on
organic fertilizers for some gardening tasks, and they serve
quite good. I am not much into pesticides yet, and got bad
consequences in my last bean harvest due to that. Since then,
developing good quality organic pesticides has been considered a
       priority by me.
But it doesn't end there. There is also a topic regarding soil
and water source preservation, the mining industry. I don't know
about you, but Trebia's likely sedimentary soil is also likely
to contain ores like gold or iron, and mining might be a
business. For gold refining, cyanide is often used. The issue
with cyanide is that it is a strong poisonous substance, and it
can easily pollute rivers. Many villages in Central America are
in difficult issues due to river pollution caused by mining.
So, my main point is, CO2 emissions aren't the only problem for
the environment. It may be our biggest problem, but not the only
one. Consider soil and river pollution and our Comitee for
Climate Change might go better. What does soil has to do with
climate? Just as atmosphere pollution might cause more frequent
hurricanes, tornadoes, etc... Contaminated rivers can cause
flooding, and contaminated soil, I believe could cause
sinkholes, but I am not sure about that one. Flooding is
something I could define as climate condition, so the Committee
       could cover these subjects too.
