2022 Presentation Night - Let us have your views please

At the September Captains meeting I put forward the idea that
for next years Presentation Night (June/July date TBC) we look
to stage a slightly grander event that in addition to making it
a special night for the important matter of receiving end of
season trophies also provides for an enjoyable night out
suitable for players and partners alike (food, drink & music)
who wish to attend.
Organising such a scaled up event obviously requires teams to
give a clear indication of likely support and commit to payment
of deposits early in the New Year. We would look for a suitable
venue that is easily accessible, probably in the central
Southend area.
Individual responses to the following questions are welcome
though it is hoped this note will prompt a wider discussion to
obtain reaction from each registered SDPL team.
Questions to consider are:
1. If collecting trophies would you definitely support such an
event? Likely number from your team / partners?
2. Would you support irrespective of whether you had trophies to
collect as a social SDPL night out? Likely number from your team
/ partners?
3. What would be a maximum ticket price you'd be willing to pay
as a guide? (to keep costs down likely to go for a hot/cold
buffet rather than a sit down meal)
4. To maximise attendance would you prefer such an event to be
held on a usual pool night (Tuesday) or a weekend
(Friday/Saturday)?
5. Would it make a big difference to you whether its live or DJ
provided music?
6. Any other thoughts / ideas you wish to make within reason ;D
Booking a suitable venue will need to be made early so reactions
are required ASAP but no later than Wednesday 8th December

Venue: Ambleside Social Club, 87 Ambleside Drive, Southend on
Sea SS1 2UP
Nominal ticket price: £5 per ticket will be charged in helping
to establish a clear view of numbers attending.
Ticket price includes: Hot buffet, Music entertainment, trophy
presentation and drinks at social club prices
Parking: There is a small car park at the venue but otherwise
parking in the surrounding roads if needed.
Unlike previous seasons this will be a night not only to
celebrate the seasons achievements on the table but a social
occasion that will be suitable for players and partners alike
that wish to attend.
Still important to get a clear indication of numbers from team
Captains who are asked to confirm numbers and collect associated
deposits in advance of our SDPL Annual Meeting on Tuesday 12th
July. Captains can also ask for a table to be booked for their
team (first come first served)
Happy to provide any further information / clarification that
might be required. Otherwise please feel free to confirm number
of tickets required with me direct asap.
