I have GOT to share what happened this morning !!!!!!!

What a day!
This morning I got in the truck to head to town. There is a mud
puddle at the property line that is not over abundantly wet, but
holding a little water. I noticed a squirrel down at the puddle
and it turned around and started running down the road. Then I
realized it wasn't acting like a squirrel, and all of a sudden
it jumped up, turned around and started running back towards me.
I was OM G that's definitely not a squirrel - its a mink! As
I started braking to stop - I saw a little baby rabbit also in
the the same tire ruts running toward me as well and not that
far from the truck. I stopped, and the mink pounced on the baby
rabbit, carrying it in its mouth, turned around and started
running back up the road. About directly across from the
Patrick's, it jumped in the bushes. I could see it running thru
the underbrush, I stopped and tried telling at it, (like it
would listen!) but only heard the sounds of the baby rabbit
dying.
As soon as I got to RAH (vet), I told Dr. Stephen about it. He
was thrilled to hear the story, and said that they are
carnivorous, altho generally a fish eater, but also said the
large trout "could" get him! The mulberries have started to
drop, S & I noticed the other day, so we were wondering if we
would see the baby grouse this year... Now I wonder.....
Awesome thing to see, but heart breaking at the same time.
I love our life on the river,

Well...that sure trumps the deer in my yard story!
Way cool! I don't think I would know what a mink looks like and
I surely did not know they were carnivorous. Good thing the
rabbits produce extras!
