January 2013 - Faux Cloisonne
By: favorite grandma Date: January 1, 2013, 9:45 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Happy New Year! I am going to introduce you to some new and/or
review some older techniques this year.
This month is all about Faux Cloisonne. Cloisonne is a
technique we see on many decorators pieces, especially during
the holidays.
Here is a link that gives great directions to the technique and
where I first learned about it.

I made several snowmen while I had the things out. You don't
have to emboss in gold, I've used silver and black.
The best stamps are the larger outline type stamps. One thing I
would recommend you do different is use something sturdier than
magazine pages. I save my prettiest Christmas cards and use
those. You know the kind I'm talking about, those with large
open spaces of color, maybe some glitter or embossing. I keep
mine in a large envelope and dig them out every now and then to
use.
The embossed tree background is also cut from a Christmas card.
I love going green with this technique.
Hope you will share some cards you make with this technique.
