QOTD 11.12 and 11.13

Since I know so many of us love the Fall weather -
#1 what do you cook more of at this time of the year?
and #2
Anyone thinking of baking with the holidays coming up? You
know, new cookie recipes and such...I'll volunteer to test ;)

#1.I tend to cook more in fall & winter.. or think about it
more,lol. Usually more baked items and soups.
#2.I always do pies for Thanksgiving something of a tradition
passed from my Mother.We have other desserts also but the pies
seem special.

We actually cook the same. We continue to grill a lot. I do
break out the stews and meatloafs though.
Since I usually wait until December to break out the baking.
However, we may be traveling so who knows????

due to many food allergies, I cook and bake most things in our
house. it's kind of a pain but we have learned to live with it.
this time of the year we have more soup and sandwiches in our
diet just because we are so busy with other things like holiday
prep stuff.
i also got a new crock pot this year, so we have been having a
lot more "throw the stuff in the pot and run" type food.
I come from a long line of holiday bakers, so we have home made
pies and cookies often this time of year. in fact today is a
baking day since i have no car still with hubby's in the shop.

1. I'm with Peggy, we have more "oven" type meals and soups
when it's cold, need warm food to survive!
2. While I love to bake/make holiday foods, the past two
holidays I haven't felt like doing much (mainly because DH
passed away early December 2010) but I'm hoping this year it
will be different. DH always made meat pies (Canadian) before
Christmas and would chase us out of the kitchen while he took a
whole day to make them. Am not going to try my hand at that but
would love to make some Christmas cookies.

I normally do not enjoy cooking but I love to bake especially
during the holidays pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and a variety
of cookies for Christmas!

I cook a lot more "soups" and "casseroles" ... though with is
being just the two of now I don't cook as much of the big stuff.
and for question number two ... they'll be no holiday baking
here, just the normal stuff.

we do alot of soups and chili plus crock pot meals are a hit
too. love to bake especially for the holiday's my girlfriend and
i bake for 12 hours the day before thanksgiving so i'm getting
my list ready as we speak.. then when we r all done baking we
will delivery trays to friends.
