We, the fans, must be living in alternate universe.
Because I read that article and wanted to puke. That list of
       accomplishment is mostly B.S

Bingo. My point exactly ecasado. The balls of this
administration giving SH props is mind boggling. But I’m not
surprised. I’ve been saying for quite some time now. SH was
hired not to win games and take this team nationally. No. He was
hired because of the new direction this school is going in. And
that new direction has nothing to do with W and L..

The story reads like the department wrote it. It doesnt look
like it came from the president and she isnt quoted in the
       article.

SB doesn't have to care about sports. The people in the Athletic
Dept need to care about sports. That's what they're there for.
Given that, Jim Fiore was a Shirley Strum Kenny hire. She was on
board, and clearly wanted someone who was aggressive.
I think Shawn was chosen as a reaction to Fiore and the mess he
made. Kind of like Bob Lemon after Billy Martin put his foot in
his mouth in 1978. He was the low-key answer to Fiore's bluster.
But Stony Brook needed that bluster, just not the other baggage.
Plenty of people out there who fit the bill.
All mid-majors are the minor leagues for coaches. If you get a
good one, count on losing that coach to a bigger school
eventually. Then you look for the next one. Steve Pikiell is one
example, Caroline McCombs is another, Lars Tiffany is an even
better one because he's a National Champion in his sport. Even
Rick Sowell upgraded when Navy picked him up, and Anthony
Gilardi is good as gone if he gets Stony Brook back into the
       NCAA consistently.
You can get lucky with a Matt Senk or a Joe Spallina, but you
can't count on top coaches sticking around very long if
       opportunity knocks.

The President approved of SH new contract and the state signed
off on it. There is nothing to get excited about with extending
SH contract. And Albany knows this. Just as long as there is a
prominent person who will keep pushing their new agenda, that is
fine by SBU and NYS. Just like with our current beauty POTUS.
Just a figurehead and an autograph to sign off on policies made
       by others.

Football is 0-2. If you look at JMUs success and whats happened
to SB over the past nine years its an embarrassment. One program
skyrocketed to success and an upgrade to FBS and the other has
five losing seasons in a row and is off to an 0-2 start. He
       should be ashamed.

       It's not just JMU either.
Coastal Carolina has gone to FBS and finished a season ranked.
Liberty has done the same and both were teams we frequently beat
a little over a decade ago...
All three of those programs have lapped SBU and we have no
chance of catching up with the current leadership. God I wish
Fiore wasn't such a dumbass. He could have kept the right pieces
in place to keep the success rolling and maybe have gotten SBU
       into a better conference...
Now we're just languishing where we're at... the silver lining
here is that the G5 is going to look completely different and
have a totally different place in the world of an expanded
playoff starting next year... not sure SBU would have been any
better off in a future watered down G5 than we are here.
