If SB has extended his contract they are pretty much saying that
they are happy with how things are going under his watch and if
that is true its pretty obvious that they may not care about
putting fans in the stands. You all can defend it but youve lost
at least five years under this situation. They are way behind on
NIL too. I dont think theres a lot of passion about the program
by the higher ups at the university. Its kind of just there.

I agree 100% with both of your posts, factory. The higher-ups
could care less if SH was useful in raising 100 million or 100
bucks. This program is funded by taxpayers regardless. Now, if
SH was successful in what he was going to do, then yes. This
program would be growing by leaps and bounds. But the President
is aware that the athletic annual budget is enough to barely
keep the lights on. Apparently, that is all that matters here,
at the Brook

Our daughter played there. No, I would not knowingly send my
child to a school with that going on but maybe you have missed
the qualifier everyone has placed on the former AD when they
talk about how well he did and how well he grew the athletic
program when they have referenced him.
its sad to see SB extending their AD since he cant raise the
money he promised (which was a factor in our decision to send
our daughter there to play) and the poor hiring decisions he
made. he hired the swim coach. He caused the post season ban
keeping our kids out playoffs. And since there has been no
official announcement about his extension its kind of obvious
that they maybe arent proud of it. like with the football coach.
[/quote]
that's all i asked for.
and no, i didnt miss it. qualifiers dont really help in this
context.

Yeah he had to go. But we sure as heck didn't have to go in the
direction of SH's hire.
Why couldn't we pay for an up and coming AD from the Northeast
region (or even the Southeast) as opposed to this assistant all
the way from Oregon? Is it that hard to find a Jim Fiore type
guy without the dirt? Stony Brook is the second largest State
University in NY. We could've done better and we could do better
today than a Shawn Helbron from West Coast Oregon State.
The guy has done absolutely nothing to be proud of. Ok, fine, he
led the build of the Indoor Practice Facility. But that's about
it. That facility hasn't even translated to wins.
Like, lets be real. Did we really expect a West Coast guy to
come in and just connect with our alumni base and the LI region?

Time to start thinking outside the box, ecasado. SH was brought
into SBU because of the direction this university was/is going.
Schools on the West coast are Woke and share the same values as
SBU and many other universities now who believe in
indoctrination of students. It is where we are at now, and there
is no turning back.
I know this because I see it, for starters. And my son who did 4
years there and graduated this year, verified that as well.
SBU could care less about sports. Just as long as they stay
within their yearly budget. Who cares about W and L.

SB is a low level mid major in athletics. With coach steve Pikel
they had a really good coach who was young and hungry and built
a very good program brick by brick. He was very involved
reaching out to the community and getting people to show up. A
low level mid major that had success under Pikel with a full
arena during the Jameel Warney years. After he left for Rutgers
its been down hill with success and attendance.
A low level mid major who had a great coach build the program
and then left and he should have left for a great opportunity.
Football. A great program under Coach Sam. Players loved him so
much and loved playing for him. They went D1 and bring in
Priore. Most of his success came after Hofstra ended its program
and he got a few of their talented kids. A low level mid major
that caught a break when Hofstra ended football. They had a
little success to 2018 but then that was it. A low level mid
major with a little burst of success with Hofstra kids. Down
hill since 2018.
WLAX. A low level mid major floundering until they bring in
Coach Spallina. He put the program on the map and they are a
national program now. If he leaves its anyones guess but its the
most successful program at SB the past nine years but theres no
money in the NCAA tournament for WLAX.
Cross Country. Low level mid major with a lot of success but no
money generated. They are very lucky to have coach Ronan.
Tennis. Low level mid major with success and probably very
little money and a horrible facility. The coach just left. We'll
see what happens. Doesnt generate money in post season.
Baseball. Low level mid major that shocked the world a few years
ago getting to the CWS. Some money from that but not a lot. More
prominence and recognition for the program than anything. The
facility is horrible. High schools have better baseball
facilities. Dont hold your breath waiting for those
improvements. Big announcement a few months ago but they likely
wont be able to raise the money under the current AD.
Softball. Low level mid major. Some success but not much the
past years. Horrible facility worse than many high school
facilities.
You get the point. SB is a low level mid major that was doing
well under the old AD. Had a couple of successful years a few
years ago but not lately. Under the current AD its gone
downhill. Unless something changes they will forever be a low
level mid major with occasional success in a sport that brings
in tournament money. They caused there few fans to lose
interest.
You have to settle for that because thats what they obviously
want since they dont make any changes and secretly extend
people. Nothing to get excited about.

Well written and good job explaining that, however. This current
administration and President is very content with leaving
everything as is. She obviously doesn’t care about athletics,
and that is well known. She basically says she doesn’t care
about sports by not talking about sports. This university is
finished, athletics wise for many, many years.

Two words: f**k off.
What a disgusting joke. It's so clear at this point that
Heilbron is not the guy.
