Truth be told, I haven't seen a single minute of Hampton this
year (and their website isn't even working #thatsafirst) but
let's dive in a little bit anyway.
First off, first and foremost, let's hope that TSM's feeling
better and on a good path, whether he returns next week, next
month, next season or just has a good life ahead of him. Has
anybody heard anything? That play's happened a thousand times
this season and it's too bad that it's led to yet another
injury. That Geno was sending "thoughts and prayers" to TSM
postgame makes me think he'll be out a while. I sure hope it
isn't the last we see of him in an SBU uniform. He has had such
an outstanding season and I suspect he'll be courted if he's 100
       percent.
It was pretty incredible to see how we responded in his absence,
but it does feel like an adrenaline rush was partly responsible.
A career night from Policelli, at least in the scoring column.
Whether we can duplicate that effort from the get-go on
Saturday, knowing that TSM is out, and do it for 40 minutes will
be a big ask. Imagine if you'd heard at the beginning of the
season that at one point we'd close a game with a lineup of
Muratori, Policelli, Roberts, Pettway and Onyekonwu. Yikes.
Hampton has to smell blood in the water with us coming in
wounded like we are. They've won two straight, including a
come-from-behind win over Delaware on Thursday behind 31 points
from Nesbitt, a former four-star came to Hampton via Memphis and
then St. Louis, where he made 33 starts last year and announced
he was entering the NBA draft. Before that, Hampton thumped
lowly Monmouth (who's actually playing a little better).
With TSM out, all of a sudden we're back to having this skeleton
crew of a roster, and we're without the one plus athlete we had.
Keeping that in mind, I think the zone comes back with a
vengeance. We just don't have anybody to guard on the perimeter,
and when you see the personnel that Hampton will send out there
       – all these wings – I don't think there's a choice. I like the
zone in doses just to give the opponent a different look, but
it's tough for full games and full weeks. Move the ball enough
and somebody's getting an open jumper. Godwin's the one to worry
about the most. He's hit at least two three-pointers in 11 of
the last 12 games, and in seven of those games, he's drilled at
least three. Nesbitt, Dean and Bethea are all willing shooters
too, and if they're open enough, that could be trouble.
I did not anticipate A&T being the flag bearer for the new CAA
class, but there they are looking pretty good at 6-4. They are
going to be a tough out in the conference tournament. Meanwhile,
we've combined with Hampton and Monmouth to go 13-50, including
5-20 in conference. Three of those victories were against non
D-I opponents, and the highest valued win per KenPom is our
one-pointer over Drexel (thank you again TSM). In the last 20
years, we've only finished the season in the 20s in KenPom's
conference rankings once (2019; 22nd), and this year will
assuredly be the second as we sit 24th. CAA incumbents have to
be sick. I'm hoping that Charleston finishes the season strong
enough that they're an at-large consideration if they stumble in
the conference tournament but I dunno. One hiccup will be
devastating, and it doesn't help that their landmark home win
over Virginia Tech is losing cachet by the day, with the Hokies
sitting at 1-7 in the ACC.
Let's see what we have tomorrow. The roster is just so
disjointed right now – four guys on stilts, Policelli and then
three small guards. We can't really shoot, we don't have (m)any
shot creators, and we aren't going to fill it up in the paint
either. But ... BUT ... we FIGHT. I can get behind that, and
that'll give us a chance against this caliber of opponent.

I'd imagine Charleston will be safely in that at-large
discussion come March, and I'd love to see the CAA be a
multi-bid league.... but it certainly won't be because of
       anything we've done.

IMO im not too worried about us in this league long term. We’ve
been competitive in every game just the mountain of injuries is
too much. With TSM out I expect a dismal finish to the season
just too many injuries to overcome. Most of these teams can be
beaten any night except Charleston who will be an at large if
they slip up. Today I would play Toby, tanaj, and Leon a lot.

The announcers are incredible. Kid makes a 12 footer, she
celebrates a three. When you go up for a shot, she says “makes
the shot” instead of “takes the shot.” Mispronouncing every
       name. It is a treat.

Couldn’t score with TSM now it is almost impossible. Free fall
to the bottom of the league is about to start.

I initially said SB would lose 75% of league-play games. I made
a mistake. They could go winless

They have 3 league wins but wouldn’t be unrealistic to lose out.

I dont have Flo Sports. Not worth the money to watch SB lose,
but. The Hofstra, Charleston game appears to be a good one
