A bit abridged here because, to be honest, I haven't seen a ton
of the Seahawks. I watched some of the Charleston game, a couple
minutes of the Hofstra game, but that's it. And this Thursday
night/Saturday matinee schedule is a tough one.
There was talk about them really challenging Charleston for the
regular season title, even after their loss at home to the
Cougars a couple weeks back. I wonder what that did to them
though because they've not been good of late, first losing at
home to William & Mary and especially on Thursday when they lost
by 24 at Hofstra. In the latter, they clawed back to make it
30-all at intermission and proceeded to get steamrolled in the
second half, 40-16. Hofstra shot 53 percent on the night and 59
percent after the break – mind you Hofstra's good for 70 plus
most nights. I really thought that UNCW would revert to form,
but now as they enter our building, will that happen now or are
we getting them at the right time?
UNCW really thrived under Kevin Keatts in the 2010s before he
split for NC State. The CB McGrath era was a disaster, but UNCW
went back to the Keatts tree to grab Takayo Siddle, his
assistant at UNCW, NC State and long ago Hargrave Military
Academy, to take on the lead role there. From what I can tell,
Siddle's calling cards are toughness, rebounding and defense, so
we can expect to grind for everything tomorrow afternoon. UNCW
has a soft spot in its schedule, with at least a 66% chance of
victory in its next four contests before its rematch with
       Charleston.
I was really encouraged by TO's play against Northeastern, and
I'm hoping we see more of that going forward. Maybe his
perimeter game emerges after an offseason getting up shots, but
for right now, he can absolutely get to the rim. Same applies to
Pettway. I don't know that defenses will respect their jumpers,
but I just like it when somebody's primary objective is to
attack the rack. I'm not sure who the last one was whose
       intentions were obvious.
We'll see about Nahar. He looked like somebody who could pitch
in in his first extended stint on the floor.
UNCW won't make it easy, especially Shykeim Phillips, who was
named to the All-CAA Defensive Team a year ago and was picked
for the all-conference second team in the preseason. However,
his production has been uneven, and instead it's been White
who's emerged as their lead horse, followed closely by
Harden-Hayes and Thomas, who stood out the most to me in the C
       of C game.
The attendance for Thursday's game was a measly 1,650 people and
it looked it on TV. I'm curious what we'll see there tomorrow,
although thankfully it didn't fall in the middle of the Giant
playoff game. Here's hoping families and students come out in
force and we see a good effort from the guys.
And finally, a tangent: Just looking ahead to next year, if Noll
and Clarke – our only supposed graduates – redshirt and come
back, and we're to assume TO and Roberts return, and nobody else
comes off the books, how's that work with bringing in Space as a
scholarship guy? On top of that, that would make five primary
point guards. Or does Clarke not traveling mean something for
next year? Have we seen Noll on the bench? I don't recall seeing
       him.

Showing some guts today. A lot of free throws coming up for UNCW
       so I am fearful.
Sign me up for no less than 30 minutes from TO going forward.

3 game skid lets hope this doesn’t spiral. Policelli not being
aggressive at all to score for a majority of this game was
       problematic not enough weapons.

Nothing on the offensive end today. Harden-Hayes with half their
points dominated. Sarvan is like a potted plant on defense.

You let one guy who averages 9 points a game score 12 straight
by himself in under 2 minutes

Even if we didn’t have the guards back from injury just having
Sabry to replace Sarvan would do a lot.

Killer stretch. White iso on Sarvan, layup. We answer. White iso
on Sarvan, layup. We answer again! We make the switch, White’s
feet get tangled, they call a ridiculous foul on TSM and he’s
done. White’s only real effect on the game but it was just a
       dagger.
UNCW has a major surplus of what we lack – athleticism. And
there just aren’t any answers on the bench. As Knicks said,
Sabry would have made a difference.
The Harden-Hayes eruption was pretty impressive in person. Good
looking stroke, and every time it went down, the UNCW bench went
booooooom!!! Cool moment for the kid.
It’s just way too tough for us to score. We haven’t hit 70 since
December 12. Hofstra’s done it eight times in that span.
Charleston’s done it nine times. There just isn’t a consistent
source of offense if TSM isn’t on, and UNCW had plenty of bodies
       to throw at him.

Like I said earlier this week. SB will lose the majority of
games this season. Blame it on injuries. Blame it on the
transfer portal.. Blame it on this and that. Bottom line. A
change needs to be made all over the place in this athletics
department before any meaningful advancement can ever be made.
That can be said for football as well. Sadly, I just don’t see
that happening because this University doesn’t care about the
local community support. They are sticking up their middle
fingers at season ticket holders and saying, F U.. we do what we
want and shit your mouth!! That’s their motto. Well, we are
turning around and saying FU to you guys as well. Look at the
overall attendance at both football and basketball. Nobody cares
       anymore.
