This one feels like a race to 60 points, maybe not even that.
We're looking at two squads who will slow the pace, which puts
an emphasis on how effective we can be in the halfcourt.
Defensively, I think we'll be fine. We may go zone against
Drexel and I suspect we'll have a similar situation as we've
seen with Williams at the FT line faced with a short jumper or
looking for an open teammate; just ask Elon, whose zone resulted
       in a nice 10-point, 14-rebound, 6-assist night from Williams.
Drexel will use him there in man too, and he's a more than
willing passer. Even if there isn't much electric talent,
there's so much motion and so much spacing for them offensively.
They grind you down and get some good looks. The shooting hasn't
been exceptional, but there's enough between Washington (.413 in
conference last year; .439 two years ago), House and the kid
Mate Okros, Williams' HS teammate in England who's hit double
digits the last two games. Although he's a reserve now, he
actually played 26 minutes for Drexel in their 2021 tournament
loss to Illinois – more than Oden, Williams and House combined.
Williams is a handful, but he isn't this gifted offensive
talent. Nevertheless, he'll find a way to get his. His real
calling card – and really the team's – is on the defensive end
though. Williams was named CAA Defensive Player of the Year in
2021-22, averaging more than two blocks a night (tops in the
league). He's on pace to finish in the top five in both blocks
and steals this year. We saw Towson's physicality disrupt us
down low, and this will undoubtedly be Fitz' toughest assignment
of the conference season, which is most concerning to me because
we need his offense to compete. Can he give us a 12 and 8 kind
       of night?
What's pretty great about Williams is that he challenges
invaders of his space but does so without fouling. He's only
reached so much as three fouls twice this season, in part
because they manage his minutes – just 27 a night. It still
would be cutting off the head of the snake if he has trouble
staying on the floor. Might be wishful thinking though,
especially if we're still dialing it up from deep. What's not a
great formula for success is the fact that we're ninth in the
country in 3-point attempts per field goal attempt, and 319th in
three-point percentage. I just don't know if that changes with
       this personnel.
Trivia: Can you name the two Drexel alums who (have) had solid
       NBA careers? Answer below.
Scary stat: Drexel will bang on the glass. They average 13
offensive boards, whereas we average about seven and a half.
Overall, Drexel is +4 on the glass, and has been in the plus
column in each of the last five games, including +6 against
       Towson a week ago.
With all these injury updates, I can't remember feeling like a
team is skating on thin ice like this one. The news with Frey
and Clarke is just staggering, and as people on this forum have
said before, if we lost Frey in particular because we rushed him
back for Florida, that is just inexcusable. And even crazier is
that he looked fine in that game, but then poof, out for the
       year?
Maybe it's of no consequence to him (who doesn't like minutes?)
but from my seat, it does feel like we're playing with fire
having TSM play all those minutes, particularly with the quick
Thursday/Saturday turn. I'm interested to see how his Saturday
numbers on short rest compare to Thursday. About 100 players in
the country are averaging over 35 minutes a night, including
Estrada from Hofstra who's up over 38. But that means that one
in every three programs has a single guy up that high. Maybe
it's nothing and it just feels like a more dire situation
because of how important he is to our team in so many ways. In
addition to the physical part of it, TSM has to feel some kind
of weight on his shoulders too.
Answer: Longtime Spur Malik Rose and current Phoenix Sun Damion
Lee. Pretty good for a CAA program. Another factoid: I heard
that a CAA team hadn't been in the AP top 25 since David
Robinson and Navy back in the '80s. Really?
I would love to see a big crowd on Thursday. With us on national
TV at home for the first time since the 2016 AE title game, the
university's been promoting it like crazy. While the student
section may still be lacking, I feel like we may see some good
       support.
Even if we've been completely snakebitten by injuries, I do feel
as though we've been fortunate to win/compete in some of these
games. The offense hasn't come easily. I feel like Drexel has a
couple more weapons and a few more live bodies who can
contribute in different ways. Moore and Magee are promising
freshmen. Turner provides good energy. The starters are
experienced. Just a little too much for us to overcome in my
       opinion.

For what its worth there's only about 400 seats available left
on the ticket website. Probably have some sections blacked out
but its way less available then when I looked for the Towson
game. Expecting a very nice crowd at bare minimum. Hopefully
some students taking winter classes will hang around for the
       game.

I looked to get tickets online and it said online tickets no
longer available so I have to go to the arena to purchase?

A 3,000 strong crowd during winter break would be wildly
       impressive.

i think half that would be impressive... ;D
3k would be good for a late season, meaningful conference game!

really want to go this game tonight. but dreading that two hour
rush hour drive from the BX.
       I'm still on the fence.
       LETS GO SEAWOLVES!

I still have one season ticket left and going with a friend. He
talked me into going. Might as well watch Drexel win

Good write up. Not much to dispute. Williams can and should be a
force on the offensive side, but isnt. It is mostly due to the
offense we run and put him in, not because of his talent. Its
frustrating and constant talk amongst our fans. He will make
every team's night a rough one down low, he has that type of
impact. Conditioning still seems to be an issue and he does
still get the occasional game where he gets into early and often
foul trouble but when he is on the court his defensive presence
       will be felt.
We are not a fun team to watch on offense. We dont have the
movement a team running at our pace should have. Its not good
basketball. But its been effective enough. By that I mean we
have taken care of teams we should but the higher calibur teams
we struggle against. Our shooting is unpredictable from night to
night, so that is always a wildcard. If we shoot well we will
always give ourselves a chance to win, but we will also go on
long scoring droughts that put us in a tough spot. Tonight is a
coin flip of a game, for sure. Welcome to the CAA for sure.

Haven’t been this excited for a game in a long time. Think it’s
just nice to see almost a sold out game back in the arena.. hope
the crowd is loud.. man if we can get a TSM breakaway dunk, I
think place will be rocking. Feels like forever I’m heading to
the bench for pregame dinner and drinks and then heading to the
       arena.
Doesn’t seem that they have to many tickets left..
