I think that, when they got it to 45-43, we all thought we were
done, right? Like, a heck of an effort, but maybe they finally
figured out how to attack our defense, they ratcheted up their
own defense, fatigue might set in and we'd lose. But no! Awesome
effort to pull this thing out, even though
Pettway has been terrific, and it irks me to think he couldn't
get on the floor last year because of the logjam of guards in
front of him. He even got only six minutes at Florida in this
year's opener. We're a little station to station this year, and
he's been the iso kind of guy we needed. Yes, one of the worst
fouls imaginable at the end to start the near unraveling, but 15
big points. Play him with confidence.
Really appreciating Frankie on the glass. I wondered if he had
the competitive fire to rebound in traffic, and he has just been
gigantic. I shudder when thinking about where we'd be without
it, with Fitz, Sarvan, etc., not necessarily being elite in that
category despite their size.
Big shots by Fitz to build the lead. Big shots by TSM to stem
the tide late. And Frankie closed December 16 for 38 (.421) from
three after going 2 for 18 from deep in the first five D-I
games.
Sarvan – tough shooting night, but a great backdoor pass to TSM
that led to FTs, a good closeout on Stucke's three in the
corner, and a couple late boards. Going to be good days and bad
days, but fill the stat sheet and make a difference otherwise.
Last but not least – Geno Ford. He's caught a lot of flak in
this space, but at least on the surface, he's patched it
together. It's one win, and three of the last four, and I still
can't explain those abysmal losses in Florida, but it feels like
order has been restored and he deserves some credit. I think
we'd all agree that we look like a more unified group than the
last few years. Tip of the cap to Geno.
I like this team.

Frankie was averaging a double-double before this game. Not
anymore (9.9 rebounds!) but that has to be an exclusive class of
current D1 players. Warney did that for entire seasons in a row
back in the day.

Just occurred to me that I forgot about this perk/hazard that I
picked up from the Hofstra forum last winter. As a CAA member,
we can now get plus/minus for, it appears, most of our games.

They could be helpful ... but could also be misleading/useless.
For example, Muratori 0 pts, 1 reb, 4 fouls in 6 minutes at WVU,
yet led us in +/-. But it's a resource that, over the course of
a season, may paint some kind of picture. Use at your own
discretion.

They won. Thats good. Im not tipping any cap yet. At least Geno
cant get knocked out in the first round by Umass lowell,
Hartfort or Bing this season. I bet if he wins another game or
two Heilbron will extend him for 3 more years.
