Welcome, T-Bird.
Concerning stats from KenPom. We are the worst team in the
country in offensive rebounding %. Even worse, we are 357th in
three point percentage, yet we’re 12th in three attempts per
total FG attempts at over 50 percent. That is a brutal
disparity.

All losses by double digits.... already got the CAA leadership
wondering WTF they were thinking in adding us....
We gotta clean house man... this is unacceptable. Between this
and football... embarrassing.

Quote from Geno:
"We were down 13 with seven minutes to go and we desperately
needed to make a run to give ourselves a chance to win it late.
We had a total meltdown the final seven minutes. While we
haven't been able to practice 5v5 live since prior to the
Florida game, tonight was really disappointing. We have to be
better than we were.
Fitz and Rocco played well but it is hard to find any other guys
who played up to their capabilities tonight. We need to be
tougher.
The second half has been a real challenge for us all season. Our
short rotation doesn't help but point blank we weren't tough
enough or good enough in either game down the stretch," said
head coach Geno Ford.
Still a lot of injury excuses, but at least Geno is starting to
get a little fed up with the way they're playing.

Thanks! I didn't think to see if there might be a forum of
equally frustrated fans out there until tonight.. The blowouts
so far this season are hard to stomach, as are those statistics.
We don't have anyone who can shoot 3's consistently yet seem to
have built an offense around the assumption that we have
multiple players who can knock them down. Yikes.

With that disparity (which was pretty much the same last year) a
competent coach would set strict restrictions on 3 point
attempts so they work the ball inside the line more. Pull any
player from the game who doesn’t comply. It’s not rocket
science.
RPI ranking is 362 out of 364 teams.

Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different
results is insanity! C’mon geno adapt to your personnel like do
what COACHES do don’t just run your system roster limitations be
damned how foolish.

since i agree, i can offer up about 300+ posts supporting this
theory. because this has been a problem for the past 7 or 8
years.
but such is the curry-ization of today's game.
give me a dougher, woodhouse, maybe even sekunda puriefoy or
latimer, and you've got a green light. but players marching
down the court and one second into the clock launching an off
balance desperation three from 5 feet behind the arc with no
look to pass, and yes, you get clanks off the glass- if you're
lucky.
why pile up bigs or even small forwards if you're gonna do that.
oh, and near 100% losses in the AE tournament. id say soon
coming to the CAA tournament but we wont achieve a berth.

I haven't been watching the games but it is insane how terrible
our rebounding numbers are with the size that we have.

It is really sad and frustrating to watch these games, besides
from the blaring obvious, getting rid of both the AD and the HC
and use their 400K+ salaries to recruit talented individuals who
are sincerely interested in the institution, cultivating a
winning team and culture and not have 2 ego maniacs who are only
interested in themselves and their pockets.... Hell maybe the
SBM Director of Player Development, David Ford (Geno's son)
could do better than his father.......or maybe not because he
doesn't seem to be developing much at all thus far....

Stony Brook men’s basketball swept in FIU Tournament
HTML https://www.sbstatesman.com/2022/11/28/stony-brook-mens-basketball-swept-in-fiu-tournament/
[quote]
Everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the Stony Brook
men’s basketball team down in Florida, as the Seawolves dropped
both games in blowout fashion in the Florida International
University (FIU) Tournament.
“Tough game tonight,” head coach Geno Ford said in a postgame
interview with Stony Brook Athletics. “[FIU] pressed and forced
the tempo. It’s going to be a really tough month for us if we
continue to have 20 turnovers and double figures of turnovers
from the perimeter.”
The offensive woes continued for the Seawolves, shooting
15-of-50 on the night for an anemic 30%. The inability to shoot
the three ball was apparent yet again, going just 8-of-27.
Shooting 29.6% from three was the second-best performance from
deep by Stony Brook this season.
Game two against Eastern Washington was not much better for
Stony Brook. The Seawolves could not muster up much of anything
on either side of the ball. Turnovers proved costly once again
for Stony Brook’s sputtering offense, with their 17 turnovers
resulting in 26 points for the Eagles.
“We were down 13 with seven minutes to go and we desperately
needed to make a run to give ourselves a chance to win it late,”
Ford said. “We had a total meltdown in the final seven minutes.
Tonight was really disappointing. We have to be better than we
were.”
