If Nebraska can fire Scott Frost after 2 terrible games, we have
to do the same. This is the most humiliating start I've ever
seen and the fault is literally all Priore's.
Your "QB battle" is 24-58 with 5 INTs in the first 2 games. Your
all-american star RB has 54 yards in 2 games combined (2.1 YPC)
because the O-line is such trash. You got destroyed at home and
then were upset on the road by an FBS school that you were
favored against! Just can the sad sack now and spare your
fanbase the misery. As I said earlier, any extension is the
program committing its own suicide since everyone already knows
how terribly the last 4-year extension went.

CAA conference Sagarin rating is 7th among FCS and sinking like
a stone, with Stony Brook helping drag it down.

This athletic department can barely keep its lights on. Forget
about firing any coach mid season. But to give P a contact
extension tells me this organization doesn’t care about W/L.
It’s all about politics with this SUNY school.
Me and the gang have decided to not participate in anymore
football games this season, even though we are season ticket
holders. But instead just tailgate and spread the word around
the tailgate lot that P needs to go.

I'm on the same page for so many reasons.
Nebraska could have waited two weeks to fire Frost and save
millions of dollars because his buyout was dropping drastically
by October. However the leadership there realized enough is
enough and let him go because the program was making no
       progress.
I'm as close to a Stony Brook homer as exists and the football
program has not shown me one reason to be excited for the
future. I have no idea what the heck Heilbron is doing with
regards to the football program frankly. There are so many
talented coaches that would love a head coaching job at the FCS
       level.
I want to give money to Stony Brook Athletics but the recent
decisions Heilbron have made really make me think it will be a
colossal waste of money. I'm looking forward to the Together We
Transform blog highlighting how hard the team is working in
practice and to get excited. The sad thing is there was actually
decent student attendance for the URI game- the play on the
field isn't going to endear many.
UMass is the laughing stock of college football and made SBU
look like they didn't belong in DI.

One of my other big pet peeves with how this program is run.
SB wins- giant puff piece on the website full of quotes.
SB loses- news story buried in webpage, no quotes from anybody
as if they want to ignore a game got played. Its bush league in
this day and age of big time college sports
       [/quote]
This is the approach for literally every single university media
relations website in the country. They're marketing the program
through thick and thin. Now if you want to get on Newsday for
its middle school level coverage, I get that. There are resource
issues in media that I fully acknolwedge, but for a newspaper
with top 10 circulation in the country to publish this, even if
just online, is an embarrassment. Not a single call was made and
they just spewed out stats from the boxscore.

On the flipside, it's LI's only real team, but do people care
       about SBU football?

Why does it take the Statesman a full day to come out with an
article after a game? Especially after a game like that where
nothing happened. 500 words could've been banged out by halftime
with a full 1,000 piece checked by editors within 30 minutes of
the game ending. Don't mean to sound harsh on the paper, but
       just questioning what happened.
On another note, next game, SBU is going up against a Richmond
team that averages close to 27 points a game, which is close to
SBU's average points given up. They've only given up 6 sacks,
but only sacked their opponent 5 times. Richmond will either
blow out Stony Brook, or keep things "interesting" until the end
of the game. But really don't see Stony Brook losing by anything
       less than 10.

yeah i dont think the statesman is the problem, its a student
org with a low budget and volunteers, small staff, etc. i think
they do a great job for the local publication. same for WUSB.
