The only thing I can say is the School President is got to get
involved and we know that’s not happening

Rumor has it Campi, she does care and is working her way around
to athletics. She’s been cleaning house in every department
since day one of being hired. She fired a ton of VP within the
departments. This is what I was told by the Associate AD. You
know who he is….

I have heard the same. They may in fact have been told to stay
in a holding pattern due to either financial shortfall or
imminent reorg.
Let's be real - SBU is NOT dropping football. It is NOT dropping
its athletic ambition, and it DOES want students to become more
animated and passionate about the school. Just because success
has been mixed doesn't mean that the motivation hasn't been
there. And when SBU wins (like with the basketball team), the
students do turn out. I was at our conference championship games
when I was a season ticket holder - that place was rocking.
Students will come back if the product improves, and the product
will improve.
This should not be portrayed as being content with the current
situation. I directly contacted Heilbron to tell him that
anything less than not renewing Priore was a disservice to the
athletics department (he responded, was very courteous, and is
fully aware that there is a lot of anger surrounding this
situation, btw). I'm not happy that he was renewed - that is an
error except if was told to do so for logistical reasons such as
financial problems or a reorg. I frankly am even less impressed
with Geno Ford. However, despite this dissatisfaction there is
not an iota of thought in my head that SBU would drop football.
On that thought - can anyone tell me when any state school has
dropped their D1 football program? Hofstra, BU, St. John's are
all private. Rhode Island tried to downgrade but reversed. Was
the last state school to actually disband their program Vermont
in the 1970's? Winston Salem State dropped to D2 as an
institution, but did not drop football.

Because they suck!!!! And the word is out to everybody and their
mothers that coach P needs to go, but SH won't do it. So why go
and support a losing program who doesn't give a rats $ss about
what we think or say!!!!!
Fire coach P and SH nd bring in real people who know a thing
about athletics and sports and see how fast this stadium and
arena rocks.

I've reached out to SH as well, but he has not responded back
via email. But I do see him around the university, and I'll
gang-tackle him with questions. He gives me the usual political
type responses, that will make your head spin.
I dont think it is a budget thing, I just think they don't care
much about football at this time. Maybe the President is still
cleaning up areas that are of more importance then athletics.
Dont know but what I do know is. We are no longer renewing
season and parking tickets next season. That's 8+ season tickets
gone. I'm sure there will be many more season ticket holders
doing the same thing.

UAB dropped theirs temporarily (because of Alabama's
interference, I think) but quickly brought it back and had some
great seasons recently

just to be clear- i'm not saying they should drop it. i love
football. i played for many years.
im saying- if the situation doesnt make sense to you (extending
the staff amongst losing seasons and talent exodus), then maybe
something's up that we don't know about. that's all.
money has been tight at SB. and then a pandemic happened.
football is expensive. and then losing seasons, then the CAA
move, low attendance, unhappy players, unhappy alums, unhappy
fans, etc. the ingredients are there.
