       2022 Football Season
       By: Campi47 Date: August 1, 2022, 5:25 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
August 01 has arrived and with that so have the players having
       said that the number one thing in my mind is who will be the QB;
Zamot, Bryden, Gutieri or McKee well the good thing is all 4 of
them have been working out on campus for most of the Summer.
We were picked to finish 7th and with JMU gone the CAA is wide
       open
I spoke to some people up at the university and they had a big
meeting on getting more people to attend the games but in my
opinion they have to win and that will happen. Game times will
be 7:00 for the opener with October games starting at 3:00 or
       3:30 and November games 1:00

One thing that I forgot to mention SBU raised the money for the
new scoreboard however because of delays it will not happen
until next Spring and there are concerns that the current
scoreboard will not make through the Fall Season and they can’t
       get parts.

My god. This is totally unacceptable for a large institution
       like SBU

do you mean the small scoreboard in the south end zone? if i
recall the sharoff scoreboard up on the jumbotron is maybe 13
years old. is it shot already?

The problem is they no longer can get parts to do any repairs.
The good news is that thanks to private donors they raised $2.5
million dollars and the new scoreboard will be installed next
Spring and it’s actually two as there will also be a smaller one
going in the north end zone as well.

That little scoreboard over the student section. I didn't know
that was North, is hideous and most middle schools have bigger
scoreboards than that. I'm happy to see SB was able to raise
       funds to replace them both..

       FCS College Football Preview: CAA
  HTML https://theanalyst.com/na/2022/08/fcs-college-football-preview-caa/
       [quote]
By midseason, the team sitting sixth or seventh in the CAA
Football standings will surely feel it’s as strong as the
first-place team, and it may be right.
The new largest FCS conference (13 teams in 2022, 15 in ‘23) has
the FCS’ most interesting title race due to its depth.
       Predicted Order of Finish
       5. Stony Brook (5-6, 4-4) – Wins in four of their final five
games last fall could be a springboard for the Seawolves’ 2022
season, when they miss Villanova and Delaware on the conference
schedule. Running back Ty Son Lawton, the CAA’s preseason
offensive player of the year, will follow the blocking of Kyle
Nunez, who’s already earned all-conference postseason honors
four times (2020, first team; 2018, ’19 and 21, second team).
How the Conference Predicted the Race
       7-Stony Brook, 151
       Five Players to Watch
Ty Son Lawton, RB, Stony Brook (Walter Payton Award preseason
nominee) – A 99-yard touchdown run against Delaware highlighted
       Lawton’s 2021 season, when he rushed for a CAA-high 1,088 yards
       and scored 11 touchdowns.

       Colonial Athletic Association Football Preview

[quote]The Parity-Fest Continues in the Colonial Athletic
       Association
The FCS is the least understood, yet most impressive college
football level in Division I — and Gridiron Heroics is going to
tell you all about it, for 12 months a year, conference by
conference, beginning with this week’s FCS football preview
       series for 2022.
THE BEST CHANCE FOR AN FBS UPSET WIN (AND WHY): Obviously it’d
be easy to go with one of the two CAA powers knocking off a
service academy (Villanova over Army or Delaware over Navy) but
the academies are better than they were in say, the 1990s when
that happened almost regularly. I’m going to go with an easier
call here: Stony Brook over UMass.
The Seawolves are stout this year, and UMass honestly is an FBS
in name only — but, this would still be a great way for Stony
Brook to nab a win like this before CAA play.
