POLL: Are you going to get FloHoops?
By: Checkmate Date: July 29, 2022, 10:26 am
---------------------------------------------------------
FloHoops will become a real nuisance for many. A big consequence
of the CAA move is the inability to watch games without paying a
premium in my opinion. But there it is on the schedule 12/18,
the first of many Flo games. You either go to the game, pony up
for Flo, or survive with the statcast somewhere. What are you
going to do?
It's crazy because, with ESPN, you could get every Stony Brook
game and seemingly every other game in existence for $6.99/mo or
whatever it was. Not now though.

I voted "Other" because I don't know at this point. Prices
going up everywhere, and I already pay for ESPN/Hulu/Disney
package for $13.99/mo. My biggest problem, is that FloSports
technology really sucks. I've used it the last 2 of the 3 years
to watch the @Hofstra/SBU games. Constant re-buffering. You
exit and re-start the app, and it puts you at the very beginning
of the game sometimes. You attempt to FastForward to current
stream point, and it hangs. It's really poor technology. I had
to fight to get my $ back, because the 2nd year I used, I did so
out of principle, since I missed the bulk of the game. Also,
you cannot share accounts. I share my ESPN+ account with my
son; no way to do that FloSports. Your account gets associated
with an IP Address - and you can't have 2 separate IP's
accessing the same account concurrently. I never tried
accessing Flo from outside my home; wonder if that even works.
Outside of CAA, not much valuable content IMO, unless you're
interested in bowling tournaments and sumo-wrestling from the
Far East. To put things in perspective, I stopped following SBU
football, when it went to FloSports.
All that said, I read somewhere that the CAA was looking at
ESPN+, but according to what you're saying, it certainly won't
be this upcoming year.
Uggh.

Looks like FloSports has the CAA through 2023. BTW, read the
article - $ 12.50/mo, which is what I paid when I watched the
aforementioned Hofstra/SBU bball games in the past. I remember
that going to FloSports directly to sign up had the price at $
29.99/mo, but if I went through an SBU game day affiliate link,
it only cost $ 12.50/mo. Something to keep in mind, if you're
just looking at the service for Bball season only. Going
through the link in this article gives you a discount on the
annual or monthly rate (if it is still valid).

That's a huge find! $12.50/mo is a whole lot better than $29.99.
I hope that offer sticks through the start of the hoops season.
$29.99/mo just isn't competitive.
Hopefully the issues you describe won't pop up this year. The
CAA's gotta know that expensive and crummy isn't going to cut it
in this day and age.

I decided to renew my season football tickets for one more year
with the gang, and hopefully, the games are better than last
season. Sadly, i won't be watching any away games on the
FloSports network.

I'm disappointed to find out that the Seawolves Anytime package
will no longer be offered. It was an outrageous steal at $10/mo
per ticket.

And the same link says that it’s $95.88 for annual subscription.
Which comes out to $7.99 per month. I still prefer it was on
espn+.

Upgrade the conference but go to a vastly inferior streaming
service. If you guys have not used it before it really is bad
hopefully it improves this year.

IDK when they do contract negotiations, but the CAA just needs
to go all in with ESPN and have that be that. Maybe Fox if the
offer is comparable, but this Flo shit has to end. Utter trash.
