Personally I think that players they pass on that they had the
opportunity to get is a big issue an example is the Holy Cross
College QB Matt Sluka from Kellenberg he’s only led them to an
undefeated season so far and SBU didn’t think he was a good fit
for them in I wouldn’t be surprised if McKee ends up there as
well
I don't consider myself an expert but McKee struck me as the
only SB QB (going back to Carbone) capable of going through his
progressions, and finding someone other than his first option.
Bryden may still turn out to be the best QB SB ever had, but
it's such a waste to lose McKee.

I’m not out of touch you are he had his contract extension last
year and has two years to go and this is LI not some big sports
town and as long as Chuck tows the line and keeps the program
clean he has a job! If he didn’t get fired after getting blown
out by Albany he never will
There were two LIC Games that were played at SBU today and I was
talking with the SBU Coaches on the sidelines and as of today 9
players have entered the Transfer Portal however
Monday-Wednesday the Coaches are meeting with all the returning
players and telling them where they stand so they expect as many
as 15-20 more could leave.
The president apparently is happy with the way things are going.
She has kept Heilbron so far.
His contract was not extended last year. It was extended earlier
THIS year. I get it. youre happy with 2-9 as long as Priore
doesnt have kids get in trouble and keep a halfway decent GPA. I
guess I'd ask why they are spending money on football at all
then? Drop it. Save the money. No one is coming to games because
of a GPA. The coaches are downplaying players leaving as easily
replaceable acting like they never really wanted those players
anyway. Great message to recruits. The facts speak for
themselves. Heilbron and Emerich have run the entire department
into the ground. They have driven fans and donors away and are
blaming covid.
Why does Stonybrook even have a football team anymore? Do what
Hofstra did and let it go. We know Priore will never get fired
as long as Heilbron is here and keeps giving him new contracts.
We don't have to drop football. Ridiculous how that's even a
part of the conversation...
What we need to do is clean house athletically. Get rid of
Heilbron, Priore, and Geno. They haven't performed at all and I
don't know about y'all's jobs, but if I don't perform in mine
I'd get shown the door. It's time we do the same.
The president apparently is happy with athletics. Why have a
program if the metrics are not wins and losses? I haven't been
to a game in years because Heilbron and his people have made it
very hard to be a fan of SBU. Football and basketball programs
are two of the worst sports at the school. I looked for the
basketball update on the website last night two hours after the
game. It wasn't there. Thats how it always is. I don't know why
they keep a football program since Heilbron and Priore's actions
show that they don't care about winning. Heilbron is a rah rah
guy. A big phoney.
For the most part the athletic program seems in OK shape. The
cross-country team did well this year. Volleyball and soccer
seems OK, and did well enough in the first year in the CAA.
Men's and (esp) Women's Lax are highly competitive. Same for
baseball and softball.
Football and Men's BB, on the other hand... :-\

Sorry no AD in the country with D1 football and men’s hoops is
judged on cross-country and soccer success. Heilbron should not
be an exception.

100% agree.
Without diminishing the merits of the other sports...(I ran
track for SB)...football and men's basketball is where an AD
earns their $$$...in fact SH probably knows well enough to stay
out of Spallina's and Senk's way... :D, and their success has
little to do with him, I'm sure.

Volley ball went 10-16 this season. 5-11 in the CAA. That got
them into the playoffs. How I don't know but it did. Nice person
but coach has done nothing since the other coaches recruits
graduated.
CC does well every year and is overlooked which is sad. Shawn
Heilbron has made a mess of the program. He failed with football
which was supposed to be his top sport. No success at
fundraising. Its pretty clear that no one cares. They just
collect their checks and the president doesn't seem to care. Why
give them any money when they don't care?

I've said on this forum many times that SB is the ideal place
for coaches like Ford and Priore....(and I guess SH)...make a
few "we played hard" quotes, throw out a few excuses, knowing
that no one is really playing attention....and all the way
cashing paychecks that they'd never get anywhere else.

Have you seen the baseball and softball fields? There are better
fields at some high schools on Long Island. No bathroom
facilities. Noplace to wash your hands. portable toilets which
smell.

Don't forget the "press box," which does not exist for Baseball
and Softball. The SID, back when there was one, and whoever was
on the call for the games sat in the shack behind home plate.
You froze in the winter and were soaking wet in the summer. The
shack seated maybe 5 people, and that's pushing it.

Tyler King is in the portal. Spin this one Chuck. I guess you
have a better player lined up right behind him to take his place
right.
