Roberts is a big loss, but it's not like there aren't multiple
players who would be capable of putting up his level of
production available who would be in the transfer portal.
Whether we can get them or not is a separate story.

Pure speculation, no inside info, but I could see it. Gifted
scorer and he looked good as a distributor too.

The only thing is that Roberts was a bench-warmer in the A-10;
CAA may be a nice fit for him. Also, SBU is his 3rd school; if
he's planning on getting a degree at some point, he'll need to
find a home. Why would you leave a program where you're the
man? Same Q for Greene. Of course, kids dream, and many times
unrealistically.

Incorrect. Roberts averaged 21 minutes in a short span before
leaving the team. He was on his way to being All-MAC at Kent
State and was going to be a big part of Bona's plans before
departing. That he's been to a few places already either works
in our favor ... or it doesn't.
Big fish small pond appeals to some—or smallish if we're talking
the CAA—but I dunno, Gueye just went against four first-round
picks last night. Roberts can be a Garcia or Olaniyi type at a
big school, especially when you think of coaches weighing a
21/22 year old man who can help now versus to a 18/19 year old
kid who will need time.

Sounds like he's gone then. I was talking about his time at St.
Bonnie.....
[/quote]
Right. Me too. He averaged 21 minutes at Bonaventure.
But Accel is right. These guys are out there, and I have to
think that the playing time they'd get here, in a quality
mid-major conference, for a coach that leans toward shooting and
playing with pace, would be attractive.

Any new guys brought in need to know how to play move the ball
do the little things defend.

OK, I was wrong about Roberts' minutes at St. Bonnie. So, the
next question is, why on earth did he leave A-10 to come to the
AE? To get 40 minutes? If his plan was to go pro, why
downgrade to the AE (same question for Olaniyi)?
The more I think about it, Geno has to once again shoulder some
blame here. Yes, it's the wild west of college athletics, but
why have we lost circa 10 (good) players in the last 3 years,
and a team like Vermont (same conference) barely loses any in
that time span?
Yeah, Geno sounds like a good guy in public-speak, but there's
more to him that meets the eye IMO.........................
