I can't believe what this year has turned in to. And while
16-12/8-7 AE would have to been considered a disappointment
heading into the year, there was also a scenario where we
couldn't rebound, we got bullied inside, and we'd be exactly
where we are now—16-12, 8-7 in conference. Instead, it feels
like the program is in complete disarray. Complete and utter
       disarray.
There are three players from the 2019-20 team who are still on
the roster—Policelli, TSM and Christie. Since then, we have
brought in one player out of high school—and that's with me
counting Kaine Roberts, who played in Japan's B League before
coming here. We do have three signees next year so at least we
have that going for us. I'm not under the delusion that today's
college basketball is what we saw 20 years ago. The transfer
market is going to be piping hot, with comings and goings, as
long as the NCAA allows it. Kids not happy with playing time,
searching for playing time, moving up a level, moving down a
level, it's just the reality of the situation.
Still, it just seems different with us. Maybe it's just me being
a skeptic or too focused on our status when the same thing's
       happening everywhere else.
Is it as bad as it seems? Akwasi's reason for the need for a
culture change is ... I dunno, it's not as damning as I
initially thought. If somebody gives his/her two weeks' notice
at work, sorry, but they're treated differently than those still
on staff. But still, the sheer quantity of departures, and the
timing of them, and also truthfully our unimaginative offense
and porous defense, suggest that something's really really
       wrong.
And to enter next year, in a new conference, with this coach and
a nearly brand new roster, makes me think that we'll soon long
for the days of 16-12 and 8-7.
Lowell's in a different spot. After making the conference title
game last year, going 5-9 this year, especially after upsetting
Dayton and GW earlier in the year, has to be completely
puzzling. But they just haven't been able to put it together. I
still love their young core—Brooks and Hikim being at the center
of that. Of course, you wonder if a guy like Brooks leaves a
       free transfer on the table.
Inexplicably ... INEXPLICABLY ... we're still ranked second in
the AE with Lowell Wednesday and then home games against Albany
and NJIT. I'm sad that I have general indifference to these
games, partially due to these departures, partially due to the
conference tournament ban, and partially due to being disgusted
about being locked into Geno Ball for another year in all
likelihood. I guess I'll tune in, and I guess I'll go to the
last two games. It's just a shame what it's come to.

I was thinking about this too. We have been kinda spoiled with a
winning program, although with only one dance to show for. Last
10 years we have been usually 1st or 2nd in conference
standing… once 5th. CAA will be a huge cultural shock. We
will be the towards the bottom of the standing yikes. Still a
challenge I am looking forward to. Hopefully it will be with a
       new coach.

Great epilogue, Checkmate. Make sure to cut/paste into the notes
for the final game, for posterity sake. AD Fiore aside, can any
of you point to a former SBU coach that has been let go prior to
their contract running out? If the answer is no (and I think it
is), Geno ball will continue for the next 2 years.

We were in 2nd place before the AE ban. We’ve gone 3-5 since…
and we’re still in 2nd. Okay. I did not know that.

Don’t hate the roster going into the CAA bench is thin but Geno
being the coach will lead to them struggling to be .500.

I am not expecting this team to be above 500 for the next 2 to 3
years. I feel like this team is always going through a
       transition. rebuilding year, every year.
With 14 teams in a one-bid league, you can forget SBM basketball
making the NCAA anytime soon. With that said. It's still better
being in the CAA for all sports as opposed to the AE, bottom
       dweller, low major conference.

hard to say at this point, because in today's world of college
athletics, we have no idea what the roster might look like next
       year.
evidence- we had no idea what the roster would look like this
       year
secondly, we dont know what the rest of the CAA rosters might
look like, nor have we played many CAA teams.
but you all know what i think- if we limited our perimeter shots
to 15 quality attempts, we will simply win more games.

According to FB, Anthony Roberts is not in the starting line
up...did he leave the team as well?

Brutal game to watch so many missed layups. No Roberts it seems.
