Not to fuel the fire, but from our former star Akwasi Yeboah,
who was the first defection, when Geno (then an assistant) was
named as a replacement for Boals:

TSM would be smart to enter the portal and head literally
anywhere else, he should not care that SBU is CAA bound.

This is so damning.
And I’m not going to kill a young reporter who’s more of an
insider than anyone at Newsday. What a puff piece after
Saturday’s win. Did he even notice the bench was empty or that
everybody’s leaving? How do you not report that?

I think it’s hard for us fans to get information at a low-level
conference school like Stony Brook because the network for
information is so small. The only people that know about why
players are leaving the program are the players themselves and
the coaches, and none of them want that information to leak out
to any reporters or media. Whereas in the NBA or NFL, nothing is
a secret and players often want to get stuff out to influence
narratives.

Great job extending game, but should have gone for winning 3,
with everyone having 4 fouls (they wouldn’t have survived OT).
Some of us hate the plethora of 3’s that this team takes, and
the one time we need one (off a TO), we go for a challenged 2.
Bad coaching decision there, after a great job being down 12,
with 2:30 left, by extending game.

Strap in, things could get ugly. Both Akwasi and Jameel are
practically calling for Geno to be fired in a very public space.

Akwasi says that Geno treated him very poorly when he entered
the transfer portal, so the only reason that Geno was hired in
the first place, to keep Akwasi, he f*cked that up, and saddled
the school with a hefty 5-year contract to boast. Heilbron got
swindled, because of course he did. Making a 5-year contract
decision should have nothing to do with retaining one good
player for one extra year, that's gambling the next 4 years for
a 1-year future that didn't even happen.
That said, as invigorating as Jameel for head coach would be,
it's also an insane risk. Ewing at Georgetown is a disaster.
Hardaway at Memphis has been mixed. You don't want to risk
burning that bridge in the event that Coach Warney
underperforms.
